Job Description

AFRY Advanced Automation in Borlänge is part of AFRY's initiative to deliver innovative and sustainable automation solutions to the industry. We work closely with our customers to create efficient, safe, and future-proof systems that contribute to increased productivity and reduced environmental impact.

Our team consists of engaged specialists in automation, electrical engineering, mechanical design, and project management, offering a dynamic work environment where competence development and collaboration are central.

We are looking for an Automation Engineer who wants to drive the development of advanced automation solutions within our projects.

Your area of responsibility is to ensure automation requirements in ongoing assignments, where you sometimes follow the entire project process – from customer idea and sales support to commissioned plant – and at other times contribute specialist expertise in specific parts of the project. You will also work as a sub-project manager, responsible for planning, coordination, and follow-up of the automation part of our projects. The work is done both locally from our office in Borlänge and in collaboration with the rest of AFRY's organization. A large part of our projects are within the steel and energy sectors.

Work weeks vary. Some projects are over longer periods and imply continuity in tasks, while other weeks consist of shorter assignments in several different projects. You will work closely with our automation team in Borlänge, where collaboration and knowledge exchange are central. We expect you to take a leading role in our automation assignments, with a high level of responsibility and good collaboration skills. The role also involves acting as a mentor for junior colleagues and contributing to the team's competence development.

At AFRY, there is a strong network of competence forums connecting our senior engineers across the organization. Here you have the opportunity to build relationships, share knowledge, and develop within new technical areas. System development is moving forward rapidly, and our customers' system environments will need to be upgraded. You therefore need to be open to learning new platforms and technologies to meet future demands. The role is not security classified at present, but may involve security classified assignments in the future.

Qualifications

In this role, it is important that you have a strong sense of planning and structure. You work methodically, create realistic expectations, and break down complex tasks into clear steps and sub-goals. Accuracy and attention to detail are a natural part of your working method.

We also value integrity. You put the team's and organization's goals first and always act with a professional and responsible approach. Your ability to prioritize the whole makes you a safe and reliable resource in projects.

Finally, communication is a key competence. You express yourself openly and honestly, listen to others' perspectives, and create space for dialogue. By giving constructive feedback, you contribute to a climate where everyone can develop and perform their best.
