The Department of Economics, Geography, Law and Tourism operates at Campus Sundsvall and Campus Östersund. The department's activities include research and education in the subjects of business economics, law, economics, statistics, geography, and tourism studies.

Your teaching will primarily take place on the Administrative Law Program, a three-year bachelor's program at the Östersund campus, which the law department runs together with our colleagues in political science. The program has a strong societal focus, where questions regarding trust in public administration and anti-corruption run as recurring themes. With us, you will teach courses that prepare students for future work in the public sector – with profile areas such as administrative law, social law, labor law, public procurement, and indigenous peoples' rights.

In addition to the Administrative Law Program, we offer a wide range of other education, such as distance courses like the General Law Course, and law courses on other educational programs and commissioned training. This gives you as a teacher great flexibility, a varied daily routine, and very good opportunities to shape your teaching.

Your tasks will primarily consist of teaching law at the basic level. The role also includes examinations, student supervision, course responsibility, and the development of both courses and educational programs. You will become part of the department's pedagogical development work and contribute to our joint tasks.

Teaching and other tasks are primarily located in Östersund but are also conducted at a distance. The work involves some travel between the campus locations of Östersund and Sundsvall. Competence development and administration are a natural part of the position, according to applicable working time agreements and local guidelines.

Qualifications

Anyone to be employed as a university lecturer must be qualified according to the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.

Qualified for employment as a university lecturer in law is anyone who has obtained a law degree or has equivalent competence in the subject area the employment concerns.

Other Requirements

Anyone to be employed as a university lecturer must have demonstrated pedagogical skill.

Excellent knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, is a requirement for the position.

You must have a good ability to work independently and take your own initiatives.

Assessment Criteria

As assessment criteria for the employment of a university lecturer, the degree of such skill that is a requirement for qualification for the employment applies. The examination of pedagogical skill shall be given as much care as the examination of other qualification-based circumstances.

All experience of pedagogy is meritorious. This may concern teaching both at the university and in workplaces, e.g., internal training or other teaching assignments. It may also concern other pedagogical assignments, such as the role of instructor, supervisor, or mentor.

Documented ability to successfully plan and conduct teaching in law is meritorious. Experience of different teaching forms, such as campus and distance teaching, thesis supervision, different examination forms, course administration, pedagogical development, and engagement in learning issues is meritorious, as is experience of teaching, negotiation, project management, and supervision in public or private workplaces.

Documented academic skill is also meritorious. This includes outstanding achievements during studies.

Technical competence and independence for digital teaching and examination are meritorious.

Processing

Preparation of the employment proceeds in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.

Employment and Start Date

The employment is a temporary full-time position starting from 2026-08-01 or by agreement, however, at the latest until 2027-06-30.
