Job Description

The position of University Lecturer in Psychology primarily involves teaching on the Psychology Programme in our courses with a focus on psychological treatment and clinical psychology. Courses on other programmes may also be included in the duties. The role encompasses teaching, course development, and administration. The lecturer position includes teaching activities, such as lectures, seminars, and laboratory sessions, both on campus and at a distance, as well as course examination, etc. Furthermore, it includes course planning, course development, and administrative tasks such as scheduling, course coordination, and grade reporting.

Qualifications

The person appointed as a University Lecturer must be qualified according to the requirements described in Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.

Qualified for the position of University Lecturer in Psychology is someone who has obtained a Master's degree with Psychology as the main subject, or has equivalent competence in the subject area the position concerns.

In addition to the general eligibility for employment as a lecturer outlined in Mid Sweden University's employment ordinance, this position requires a degree in Psychology and a Swedish license to practice as a psychologist.

Other Requirements

The person to be appointed as a University Lecturer must:

  • demonstrate pedagogical skill through certified certificates.
  • have completed university pedagogy training or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way.
  • have practical experience of clinical treatment work.

The position also requires high availability at the Campus in Östersund and very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

We are looking for someone who is responsive, has good collaboration skills, and is willing to establish contacts and cooperate internally and externally. You should be stable and able to handle stressful situations calmly. We also expect you to be structured and able to plan and carry out your work independently and responsibly.

Assessment Criteria

The criteria for assessing the appointment of a University Lecturer are the degree of skill required for eligibility for the position. The assessment of pedagogical skill shall be given as much attention as the assessment of other eligibility conditions.

Experience of clinical work including treatment is an asset.

Documented experience of teaching at an academic level in psychological treatment and clinical psychology is an asset.

Previous experience of working with learning platforms is an asset. Furthermore, good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is an asset, as course literature often appears in English and some teaching may take place in English.

Applicants are assessed based on pedagogical skill, work and teaching experience, and personal qualities.

The preparation of the employment will proceed in accordance with Mid Sweden University's employment regulations.

Employment and Start Date

The employment is a special fixed-term contract covering 50% of full-time from 2026-08-01 or by agreement, but no later than 2027-06-30.
