As a career and study counselor at Södertörn Independent School, you will play a central role in the students' daily lives and in the school's preventive and promoting student health work, carried out in collaboration with the school's student health team. Your work includes, among other things, inspiring and motivating students in their study and career choices.

In your role, you will conduct professional counseling sessions and collaborate closely with teachers and other staff. You are responsible for study and career guidance for all grade levels, with a special focus on grade 9. It is important that you find it easy to build relationships with students that benefit their academic development and their ability to grow into good human beings. You enjoy being among the students, have a proactive working approach, and the ability to contribute a counseling perspective on multiple levels. As a counselor, you are expected to lead the school's counseling-related initiatives in close cooperation with other staff, which we see as an area for development at the school.

The assignment also includes planning and conducting information meetings for students and parents, as well as routine administrative work related to the role. You are responsible for coordinating with the High School Admissions Office, conducting counseling sessions prior to high school selection, and planning and executing visits to the High School Fair.

Organizing PRAO (vocational training) for grade 8 is also part of your duties.

The work involves a broad range of contacts with students, staff, parents, and various actors within education and the labor market. You are also responsible for developing the school's study and career guidance plan together with the school leadership.

Near the school lies the Flemingsberg Nature Reserve, offering excellent opportunities for excursions and other scientific outings. Södertörn Independent School is a workplace beyond the ordinary! The school is located in a beautiful park landscape with the forest right on the doorstep. The school has several different buildings, which makes it feel like a small school despite having 480 students and 54 employees. Thanks to the school being run as a staff cooperative, there is a strong sense of "we," it is our school together, and everyone is involved in how the school functions. We have been around for 25 years, and during these years, good structure, organization, and routines have been formed and built up. There is strong engagement among both staff and students. We recommend visiting to understand what makes the school special, even though we are in many ways a completely normal school. This autumn, the school will enter a new exciting phase as we will expand our operations to include grades 4 and 5.

There is also a strong willingness for development among both students and staff at the school. What we highlight as positive in our operations is something that should be a matter of course in all schools. To the positive and obvious is that we can work with the school's core mission and create good conditions for our students to go as far as possible in their academic development.

Employment Type: Permanent employment at 40-60% (starts with a 6-month probationary period).
