Neurology Department
We are Akademiska Sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we serve two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both challenging trials and fantastic events within a strong community of colleagues. See glimpses of our reality in our photo exhibition at akademiskafotoutstallning.se (https://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). We welcome your application!
Our Operations
At NIMA, the Neurosurgery Intermediate Care Unit, we care for neurosurgical and neurological patients requiring intermediate or postoperative care. Our acute admissions consist mainly of intermediate care patients who are too ill for a regular ward but do not require full-scale intensive care. Our postoperative patients are usually part of a planned operation and stay with us for a short period post-surgery.
Together with skilled nurses and doctors, we form a winning and developmental team. We have close cooperation with NIVA, located on the same floor, and other wards to ensure care is as efficient and safe as possible for our patients. Our core competency is advanced monitoring of the body's vital parameters to create the best possible conditions for the brain and to minimize the risk of complications. Our staff includes both experienced nurses and assistant nurses, as well as newly graduated professionals.
Your Responsibilities
As an assistant nurse, you are responsible for basic nursing care and monitoring of vital parameters. You work closely with patients in a team alongside nurses and doctors. Together, we provide the best possible care for our patients.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for a qualified assistant nurse. Experience in hospital care is an asset.
Your Competence
We value high-quality nursing and a positive approach. The variety of work requires flexibility and the ability to adapt quickly to acute situations, while working independently and taking responsibility for your tasks by driving your work forward in a structured manner. You plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively within given timeframes. In collaboration with others, you are attentive and contribute to constructive solutions, communicating clearly to ensure information is received and following up when necessary. Personal qualities are of great importance.
We Offer
With us, you will have a varied job with the opportunity to gain excellent knowledge in neurosurgical nursing. At NIMA, we work according to the points model, a scheduling model that offers greater opportunities for recovery and flexibility. Rotational duty is applied on the unit, meaning work during days, evenings, and nights. We offer a permanent full-time position with a start date to be agreed upon.
We offer an introduction tailored to your experience as an assistant nurse. The introduction includes both clinical service and theoretical training days with our education nurse and education assistant nurse. After your induction, you will meet our education assistant nurse, who will act as a support in your development through advice and guidance in your daily work.
With us, you receive benefits that make a difference. Read about the benefits here: Region Uppsala Benefits (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).

Region Uppsala values the qualities that gender balance and diversity bring to the organization and welcomes applicants of all genders and with different backgrounds, functional abilities, and life experiences.
Region Uppsala places all permanent staff in the military reserve based on the needs of the total defense. This implies no obligations for the individual employee during peacetime but is solely a planning measure.
Before a decision on employment is made, a check of the suspicion and criminal record registers is carried out for all job applicants who, in the sought position, may work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care for children and young people, or compulsory care for substance abusers – areas covered by optional register extracts. This applies to all who will work close to patients, even if the current tasks are not intended to primarily involve work with the aforementioned patient groups.
