A strong and vibrant business community is crucial for Halmstad's development. We are now seeking two Business Development Officers, one with a focus on establishment and one on expansion, who wish to work closely with companies, build trust-based relationships, and contribute to making Halmstad an attractive location for establishment, growth, and entrepreneurship. In these roles, you will become a vital link between the business community and the municipality, tasked with translating companies' needs into concrete development within a complex, democratic organization. Here, you will have the opportunity to combine a strategic perspective with operational work in an environment where collaboration, pace, and social benefit are in focus.

Your Responsibilities

As a Business Development Officer, you will work closely with entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to strengthen and develop the conditions for business in Halmstad. The assignment involves creating and managing long-term relationships with companies, property owners, investors, and partners at local, regional, and national levels. You will often be out in the field, participating in networks, meetings, and company visits, serving as a clear and accessible entry point to the municipality for the business community.

In this role, you contribute to the goal of a more vibrant business community in Halmstad by building trust between the municipality and businesses, increasing accessibility, and ensuring the municipal organization collaborates effectively on issues regarding entrepreneurship, establishment, and growth.

Focus: Establishment

As a Business Development Officer with a focus on establishment, you have your own responsibility as the main contact for companies and investors wishing to establish operations in Halmstad. You receive and qualify establishment inquiries, match investment ideas with the municipality's opportunities, and drive the dialogue forward in close collaboration with relevant internal and external actors. The assignment also includes actively working on establishment-promoting initiatives, participating in trade fairs and conferences, and contributing to marketing Halmstad as an attractive location for establishment.

Focus: Expansion

As a Business Development Officer with a focus on expansion, you have your own responsibility to support existing companies in their development and serve as their contact person towards the municipality. You work with a service-oriented approach to answer questions and guide companies in areas such as land, permits, infrastructure, and premises. The role also involves identifying needs and obstacles to company growth, proposing solutions, driving improvement work, and initiating and leading industry dialogues with a focus on development, expansion potential, and long-term competitiveness.

Your Qualifications

Requirements

  • Good understanding of companies' conditions, business logic, and decision-making processes
  • Ability to independently hold presentations, lead meetings, and conduct workshops
  • Very good communication skills in speech and writing

Merits

  • Experience in business development, establishment work, land and property issues, or investment promotion
  • Experience working in or in close collaboration with the public sector
  • University education in areas such as social development, economics, geography, political science, marketing, real estate, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Analytical skills related to needs analysis, data, and market information

You are driving and enabling, with the ability to listen to companies' needs and translate them into concrete activities within the municipal context. At the same time, you are service-oriented, flexible, and confident in switching between strategic perspectives and operational execution. You work in a structured and planned manner even at a high pace, find it easy to build trust, and can pedagogically explain how the municipality works towards entrepreneurs and companies.

Additional Information

The selection process begins before the advertisement period expires. If you meet the requirements, you will be asked to complete tests, followed by a phone screening, a competency-based interview, and finally a candidate meeting with union collaboration. We always take references for final candidates.

Competency interviews are scheduled for week 19.
