At the Business and Destination Office, part of the Municipal Executive Board, we work to make Varberg an attractive place for both businesses and visitors. With a dedicated team of 13 employees, we focus on creating a simple and inspiring environment for businesses to establish and grow. We strive to continuously improve the business climate, promote Varberg as an attractive destination, and coordinate the municipality's administrations on issues related to rural development. We are currently organized into three small effective teams working with business, marketing, and destination development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Destination Developer in Varberg Municipality, you will play a crucial role in developing the destination and place, and driving initiatives that strengthen Varberg's attractiveness. You will connect regional and national knowledge with our unique local conditions. The position involves both long-term planning of destination development and operational work; you are both a developer and an implementer. You will be an important link between the municipality, the business community, and our partners, both locally, regionally, and nationally.

Your main responsibilities

• Develop, project manage, plan, and implement initiatives to develop Varberg as an attractive destination for visitors and the tourism industry year-round.
• Work with place marketing and brand development together with the marketing team. Be part of the digital visitor service.
• Build strong relationships and collaborations with stakeholders in the tourism industry, other businesses, associations, clusters, and other stakeholders to create collaboration opportunities and increase the number of guest nights and local jobs.
• Company visits and meetings with business clusters, new tourism businesses, and initiatives that can develop the place are an important part of the job.
• In this role, you will be a link between the municipality and the business community. This means providing service to businesses by guiding and connecting them to the right information.
• An important part of the role is to coordinate destination work between the municipality's various departments, companies, and administrations.
• Be responsible for the implementation of various projects within destination development, both operationally and strategically.
• The role includes being available for businesses and stakeholders, so irregular working hours will occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a university degree in project management, destination development, or communication, or another relevant degree that the employer assesses as equivalent.
• Has experience working with destination development and project management.
• Is communicative, has good collaboration skills, and can build strong relationships with the business community and other stakeholders in the tourism industry. Has good digital skills.
• Enjoys finding new solutions and creatively seizing ideas and solving problems. Has the ability to drive projects forward with quality and within set deadlines.
• Has a holistic view and can see the big picture while also being practically oriented and enjoys being part of the implementation.
• Has good knowledge of the tourism industry, preferably with a network within the region and nationally. We see it as a positive if you have a connection or feeling for Varberg as a place.
• Thrives in teamwork with others and can adapt to different roles in various projects.
• If you have experience working in a public organization or in close collaboration with municipalities or regions, it may be an advantage but is not a requirement.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form.
• Have a B driver's license.
