Library Development

Library Development works strategically to share knowledge, promote collaboration, and enable development for public libraries in Jönköping County. The mission is based on the Library Act and the Library Plan for Jönköping County.

We are looking for a developer who wants to contribute to communicating and strengthening the role and activities of libraries, where the significance for the development of the democratic society is particularly relevant.

The Role of Library Developer

In the regional development assignment, you work to ensure that the county's residents are offered a relevant and equitable library service of high quality. You work together with colleagues and in close collaboration and dialogue with the staff of public libraries and other partners.

As a developer, you take the initiative, drive, and guide projects and processes that promote cooperation and meet the development needs of public libraries. You monitor the environment, follow up, analyze, and evaluate efforts. You coordinate training sessions for public library staff and are responsible for the Library Development website and newsletter. The position also includes general administrative tasks.

We offer a permanent position starting in August, or by agreement, based in Jönköping with travel both within and outside the county, where a B driver's license is necessary.

Your Future Workplace

Library Development is part of Cultural Development within Regional Development and consists of a unit manager and four developers. We work with library development at a strategic level, where the primary target group is the staff of public libraries in Jönköping County. The mission is based on the Library Act and the Library Plan for Jönköping County 2026-2029, with our operational idea to share knowledge, promote collaboration, and enable development. The work takes place in collaboration and interaction with the surrounding community and in close dialogue with the county's public libraries and other actors.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in library and information science, social sciences, or another area relevant to the current tasks. You are accustomed to researching and analyzing as well as driving processes in collaboration with others. You work independently and in a structured manner, adapting to different needs and finding solutions. You have good knowledge of digital tools for planning, collaboration, document management, and communication. We are looking for someone who is highly skilled in communicating verbally and in writing and who thrives in contexts where the ability to explain, present, and inspire is important.

The work suits you if you are curious, communicative, and have a strong desire to develop with support from current research. You enjoy reflecting on your work and see the value in creating and maintaining contacts. We place great importance on personal qualities.
