In Järfälla, we have gathered the study and career counselors for primary and secondary schools, as well as adapted primary and secondary schools, into a central organization. The Study and Career Counseling unit is part of the Education Administration's area of Quality and Development. In our Syv team, you will meet knowledgeable colleagues with great drive, led by a professionally skilled unit manager. We believe that our collaboration and collegial learning are of great importance for our work and for equitable guidance of high quality, which is why we have regular meetings and plan our work together. The study and career counselors have their workplaces at the schools.

We are now looking for an engaged study and career counselor to join our fantastic team for a parental leave replacement during the school year 26/27.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a study and career counselor in Järfälla's schools, you play a key role in preparing and empowering students for their future work and community life and continued study and career choices, creating a belief in the future and helping students move towards their set goals. The assignment largely involves driving a learning study and career counseling process and progression throughout the student's school years to develop students' choice competence and motivation. You will work at a 7-9 school, which includes resource groups and outreach to some of the municipality's primary and middle schools.

The work as a study and career counselor in grades 7-9 means that you coordinate and support the school's overall study and career counseling work and the annual SYV plan. You collaborate with teachers to integrate study and career counseling into teaching, and you are a natural part of and an important resource in the school's student health, having a guiding perspective in meetings with students, colleagues, and guardians.

The work with and together with F-6 schools involves providing guidance to educators regarding study and career counseling and supporting educators in their work with revising the current SYV plan. You also work directly with students in groups.

The framework for your work is set by national governing documents and the municipality's own directives and guidelines. You are given great creative freedom in your work.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a degree in study and career counseling. The work requires that you are familiar with relevant conversation methodology and that you have some pedagogical skill, as you meet students both individually, in smaller groups, and in classroom situations. You have a professional and relationship-building approach that contributes to an inclusive and supportive learning environment. You create security, structure, and motivation by meeting students where they are and adapting efforts and support to individual needs. You collaborate closely with teachers and student health to promote students' academic development.

It is important that you want to work with all ages and find it particularly important to work with study and career counseling for younger ages.
