Field Secretary for Sundbyberg Youth Center

Do you want to meet young people where life actually happens?

Sundbyberg Youth Center is currently developing a new approach where outreach fieldwork is an integral part of the center. We believe that young people's health and safety are strengthened when support is not only available behind a reception door – but also in the young people's own environments.

We are now looking for a field secretary for a permanent position who wants to help shape this work with us.

With us, the field operations are part of the youth center, not an external collaboration function. This means you work in the same organization and in close daily collaboration with the center's social workers and midwives. Together, we develop more accessible support for young people – where we can meet them spontaneously in their environments and offer professional support when needed.

We know that many young people never step over the threshold of a center on their own. Therefore, we need to be where young people already are – in public spaces, in school environments, at leisure centers, and in contexts where relationships, norms, conflicts, and life issues actually take shape. We also need to work together with other professionals and organizations to succeed in meeting young people's needs.

About the Assignment

As a field secretary, you will work outreach, relationship-building, and preventive work with young people in Sundbyberg. Through presence, curiosity, and trust, you create relationships that make it possible to identify needs early.

You also serve as an important link between young people's everyday lives and the support of the youth center. Sometimes it involves making contact, sometimes guiding them to conversations or interventions, and sometimes simply being a safe adult in the presence of young people.

The work is also part of the municipality's preventive and crime prevention efforts where early relationships, trust, and presence are central tools.

Your Responsibilities

• Outreach and relationship-building work with young people in their own environments
• Evening and some weekend work
• Collaboration with schools, leisure activities, civil society, and other actors
• Contribute to the youth center's preventive work regarding mental health, relationships, and risk behaviors
• Help develop new methods for how the youth center can reach more young people
• Participate in collaboration groups within the city

The youth center also shares premises with the non-profit organization Stjärnjouren – a girls' and trans support service, which gives us a close connection to civil society and strengthens our support for young people in Sundbyberg.

We Are Looking For You Who

• Has a degree in social work or another higher education that the employer deems equivalent
• Has experience working with young people
• Is creative, proactive, and comfortable working in young people's environments
• Has strong social skills and an outgoing personality
• Finds it easy to make contact and build trusting relationships
• Thrives in a job that requires flexibility, presence, and collaboration

You should also appreciate working in a cross-professional team where your closest colleagues are field secretaries, social workers, and midwives.

Before employment, the employer will require you to provide an extract from the police's suspicion and criminal record register.
