Habilitation is specialized health care for children and adolescents with autism, intellectual disabilities, mobility impairments, or acquired brain injuries. We provide health-promoting and treatment interventions based on each individual's unique needs and circumstances, and we have specialist knowledge of how disabilities can affect daily life, health, and development.

Description

We are looking for a special educator/special teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities for our clinic in Skövde.

Responsibilities

As a special educator in habilitation, you are an important team member. All interventions are carried out in close collaboration with the patient/relatives, as well as other professional roles in the team.

The methods of work vary from individual interventions to group treatment. Your responsibilities include conducting assessments, supporting interaction and communication between children and their environment, providing educational support and training to parents and networks, and using clarifying pedagogy to increase understanding of the child's diagnosis. This means making the child's skills visible to achieve a functioning everyday life where interventions are planned based on each child's specific needs and circumstances.

As an employee in habilitation, you are expected to be motivated to continuously develop your competence regarding the interventions we offer. This may include leading the generalized parent education programs we provide to guardians.

We offer an introductory period with mentorship, opportunities for professional development through collegial supervision, and professional development work with other special educators within Habilitation for children and adolescents.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a qualified special educator/special teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities, with experience from similar target groups or adapted primary schools. We prefer that you have a background as a preschool teacher and experience from adapted primary schools. Knowledge of AAC for both communication and structure is an advantage. Good knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities and an understanding of the consequences of both cognitive and mobility impairments in daily life are also advantageous.

We appreciate experience with interdisciplinary working methods. The tasks require a high degree of independence and flexibility, while teamwork and various forms of collaboration require good cooperation skills. Since there may be some travel involved in the position, a driver's license (B) is desired. Personal suitability will be given great importance.
