Case Officer for the Customs Agency's Revenue Department in Malmö

The operational activities of the Swedish Customs are divided into four departments: control, revenue, intelligence, and customs crime. The Revenue Department has a broad mandate within the three operational areas of permits, post-control, and revenue monitoring. The operational work of the Revenue Department is carried out within four units (South, West, East, and North) with flexible groups working on the entire department's mission but specialized according to the needs of the operations.

We are now looking for case officers for the Revenue Department in the southern area with the workplace in Malmö.

About the position

The work as a permit case officer within the Revenue Department is varied. The operations are largely demand-driven, hence there is a great need for flexibility from the case officer to switch between different tasks.

The tasks of the permit operations mainly involve reviewing, investigating, and assessing permit applications but also monitoring already issued permits with their obligations. The work as a case officer involves a lot of contact via our case management systems and phone/email with freight forwarders, companies, and other authorities. Some tasks also include company visits. As a case officer, you work both independently and in a team.

The case management entails constantly new questions and situations, which means that you as a case officer need to be both flexible and problem-solving. It is also part of the case officer's job to develop and revise internal routines and improve working methods. The case management is performed in several systems.

The working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Are you the one we are looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Post-secondary education in social sciences, freight/logistics, law, economics, or other relevant education for the position which the employer assesses as equivalent or at least three years of work experience from customs-related activities
  • At least two years of documented experience in qualified case management, including interpreting legislation
  • Experience in independently driving, investigating, assessing, and writing decisions
  • Experience in compiling and interpreting large amounts of information
  • Good knowledge of the Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Very good ability to collaborate
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Swedish driver's license, class B for passenger car

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Good knowledge of Customs
  • Work experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or international trade
  • Experience in customer service and support
  • Interest in development issues within the operational area

As a person, you are analytical, meticulous, and responsible. You can independently operate within a given framework and are not afraid to take your own initiatives. Since the work requires contact with companies/freight forwarders and dialogue with colleagues and other parts of the organization, we want you to be receptive, service-oriented, and have an easy time collaborating with your surroundings. You are used to handling large workloads, prioritizing the essential, solving problems, and formulating decisions with good quality.
