Björkvallsskolan

Björkvallsskolan is a pleasant 6-9 school close to nature, located in Uppsala Municipality, where the goal is for all students to succeed. At our school, students feel safe and receive help with their schoolwork from qualified teachers. Students are met by teachers who expect them to achieve the goals in all subjects, and we actively work to ensure that each student feels motivated to study and eager to learn.

Here you will receive the broad education you need to move forward when applying to high school. The school's facilities have been newly renovated and offer a calm and pleasant environment for both staff and students. We believe that a calm study environment is important to enable students to acquire knowledge and skills. Our students are encouraged to engage in movement and physical activities, and they have physical education and movement sessions scheduled three times a week.

Our student health team consists of a special educator, counselor, school nurse, school psychologist, and study and career counselor. All classrooms are equipped with Active-boards or projectors, and students in each grade have access to computers. Björkvallsskolan participates as Sweden's only school in the international sports competition Superschools. Here, selected students have the opportunity to travel abroad, experience other cultures, and possibly connect with other students in Europe.

Job Description

The role includes teaching grades 6-9 in Spanish and in Swedish and/or English depending on the applicant's teaching certification. The position also includes mentorship in a class, which is shared with a colleague at the school. You will be part of both subject teams and work teams and are responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing teaching in the relevant subjects for the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has a teaching certification with authorization to teach Spanish and Swedish or English for grades 6-9. The position requires experience in teaching the later years of primary school. Previous experience in mentorship within primary school is preferred. Knowledge of low-arousal approaches is an advantage.

You collaborate well with students, colleagues, and guardians by being attentive, clear, and constructive in your communication. As a person, you are outgoing and build good relationships and contacts. You understand how students learn in different ways and adapt your communication so that everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
