Every day, approximately 1800 people go to work at Östhammar Municipality to deliver welfare and development so that our local community can continue to be safe and attractive. We do this together, with commitment, responsibility, and openness. We are proud of it.
Now you have the chance to work in a school focused on development in addition to a learning and safe environment! We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for our students.
Österbyskolan is a K-9 school with about 425 students. We are an innovative school where collaboration with colleagues is prioritized, and our principals are present in the operations and share our daily life. Österbyskolan is located in the center, yet close to nature, and we have a swimming pool and sports hall adjacent to the school. Would you like to work in a stimulating and pleasant work environment? Then we hope to welcome you to us!
There is efficient and well-functioning public transport to the school from other areas in the municipality, as well as from Uppsala.
RESPONSIBILITIES
When you work as a teacher in textile crafts and mentor with us, you will be part of the 7-9 work team while teaching grades 3-9. We plan and develop the operations together and work to challenge and support each student so that they all have good conditions to meet future challenges and opportunities. We do this in close collaboration with other educators and student health. We have a nice craft room for textile crafts. You will be responsible for purchasing and ordering materials and independently plan your lessons as you will be the sole textile teacher at the school. We encourage you to collaborate with the school's wood and metal teachers around various themes throughout the year.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a certified teacher with qualifications in textile crafts, or alternatively, you have a pedagogical background and a strong interest in teaching, along with good knowledge of the subject. Experience in teaching and mentorship is an advantage, as is knowledge of the relevant machines in the craft room. You have good IT skills so that you can familiarize yourself with the systems we use daily, and if you have knowledge of Unikum and Teams, that is an extra plus.
There are some abilities we consider particularly important in our work, and we hope you recognize them in yourself. Collaborating with colleagues to create the best possible conditions for our students is one such ability. Building safe and trusting relationships is another - it is an asset for you in relation to your students as well as in your relationships with colleagues and guardians. A positive attitude and strong commitment also help to inspire and show students (and us colleagues) opportunities and solutions. Have we sparked your interest? That is our hope!
