Workplace Description

Uddevalla Culture School offers teaching in music, dance, theater, visual arts, and film for children and young people aged 5–26 years, as well as holiday activities.

At the Culture School, about 30 teachers/educators work, and we meet approximately 1300 children in our course activities and over 5000 children and young people in our various projects we do together with, among others, schools and youth centers. Our mission is to offer a meaningful leisure time by giving children and young people the opportunity to participate and develop based on their different conditions and levels of ambition. We do this by conducting fun and innovative activities in various forms of course setups as well as offering holiday activities and open activities both at the Culture School and other places in the municipality. We have an established collaboration with youth centers and schools in the municipality as well as several residential areas that allow us to operate in many different arenas and meet many children and young people.

Through this mission, the rights of children and young people to culture and cultural expressions are ensured according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The purpose of the Culture School is to teach and develop children's, young people's, and young adults' aesthetic expressions to promote a curious lifelong learning. The activities are characterized by the equal value of all children and a norm-critical approach.

Job Responsibilities

• You will teach piano. Beginner students start in the piano studio, and individual lessons mainly occur as needed after a few years.
• You will work in subject teams with other teachers and be part of working groups responsible for planning joint activities.
• The work includes planning and meeting time, as well as working on various projects and activities with other subjects at the Culture School.

We are looking for someone who

• has good collaboration skills, initiative, is flexible, well-organized, and structured with a good ability to work both independently and together with others.
• wants to contribute to our development work together with the Culture School's teachers and wants to develop the piano subject by creating more arenas for piano students to perform with and for others.
• also has experience, knowledge, and methodology to work with group teaching.
• has an artistic drive and above all - enjoys meeting children and young people.
• understands all people's differences, both cultural and social.
• is open and curious and prepared to constantly re-evaluate your methods.

Qualifications

• You have a suitable pedagogical university education or other education that the employer deems appropriate.
• We are looking for someone who is confident in teaching in the piano studio but also individual students at a higher level.
• You have the ability to inspire children and young people to lifelong learning through your teaching style.
• You play at a high level on the piano and are also an experienced chamber/ensemble musician and accompanist.
• You master different genres.
• You are flexible and have a good ability to adapt teaching to students' needs.
• Teaching certification is an advantage.
• A driving license (B) is required.

Other

You will be employed in a vacation position. The position is a 50% temporary position until 261218.
