About us

The forensic psychiatry unit is a unique operation within Sahlgrenska University Hospital, located in Gunnilse, about 20 minutes from central Gothenburg by public transport. The mission of forensic psychiatry is to provide individually tailored psychiatric care and rehabilitation to patients who have been sentenced to care.

The unit has open and closed care facilities with enhanced security classification and also cares for patients deprived of liberty under other legislation when they require acute psychiatric specialist care. Forensic psychiatry has a societal protection responsibility, where the goal is for patients to manage a life in society without reoffending due to mental illness.

We invest in research, and our research unit CELAM (Center for Ethics, Law, and Mental Health) is located at Rågården, which means we are continuously part of the latest developments in forensic psychiatric care with the patient in focus.

About the job

As a nurse in our mobile team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues across professions. Together, you will plan and follow up on care in collaboration with the patient and sometimes also with relatives and other community actors.

You will be responsible for:

• Clinical assessments and follow-up of the patient's mental and physical health
• Medication management and sampling
• Nursing interventions and coordination regarding the patient's care

The work is flexible and scheduled during the day, Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:45.

About you

You will work closely with patients and have a good demeanor, understanding, and interest in people. You are good at listening and communicating with both patients and relatives, and you always work from a patient-centered approach.

Since you will work in a team and have contacts with various partners, you need to have good collaboration skills.

You are secure and stable in yourself and can adapt to situations and prioritize. To thrive in this role, you need to be flexible, accustomed to taking initiatives, and able to organize and plan your work independently.

We are looking for a licensed nurse. Experience in psychiatry and further training as a psychiatric nurse is an advantage, but not a requirement. You need to have a B driver's license (mandatory).

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulator Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
