Your Responsibilities

The Prosecution Authority is looking for someone who wants a central role in crime fighting. As a prosecutor, you will apply legal practice in theory and practice with significant personal responsibility and in collaboration with others.

As an extra prosecutor, you will work with all aspects of criminal cases at a public prosecutor's office. You will lead preliminary investigations, make decisions regarding prosecution, and litigate in court.

Your Qualities and Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Swedish citizenship
  • Nordic law degree
  • Clerkship qualifications from a district or administrative court
  • Experience from other qualified legal work for at least two years after your clerkship, primarily in criminal law. This refers primarily to work as a court assessor, lawyer, or other legal experience in criminal law.

  • be stable and have good judgment

Admission Procedure

The position of extra prosecutor is a special fixed-term employment or a merit-based employment of at least twelve months, before you can receive a waiver to become permanently employed as a chamber prosecutor.

Before an offer of employment, the Prosecution Authority may conduct a background check in the suspicion register and criminal record. The background check is conducted on the final candidate.

Tests may occur in the recruitment process.

If the applicant who receives the assignment is employed by the Economic Crime Authority or within the Swedish courts, a collective agreement fixed-term employment (so-called merit-based employment) applies.

The Prosecution Authority is a preparedness authority. Upon employment, you may be assigned to the Prosecution Authority in case of war. Read more under Work with us.
