Communicator Wanted at the Swedish Agency for Government Service
The Communications Department has an overarching and coordinating responsibility for external and internal communication. The agency's planned communication is a strategic tool for developing, managing, coordinating, and supporting the organization's goals and missions. Effective communication should contribute to the agency's efficiency and service, as well as to the public's trust in us.
The Communications Department at the Swedish Agency for Government Service has employees working in Östersund, Gävle, and Stockholm. The department is led by a department head with seven communicators and one information officer.
We are looking for an experienced communicator who will serve as a qualified communication support for the agency in a politically governed operation. For us, communication is a strategic tool and an important support in management and governance.
Main Responsibilities
In the role of communicator, you will provide strategic and operational communication support to the agency's managers, experts, and project leaders.
You will translate complex decisions, processes, and steering signals into understandable and relevant messages and support the organization in both change and internal communication.
In this role, you are expected to help the organization prioritize, simplify, and clarify communication efforts. You will take the initiative for dialogue and advice in a proactive manner and create security by providing clear guidance based on well-founded and relevant assessments. You are independent, structured, and have high integrity in your professional role.
You will also work operationally to produce content for relevant channels, both physical and digital, sometimes on your own and sometimes in collaboration with colleagues in the department. You will also participate in projects and assignments to develop communication plans that you will also help implement operationally with some production elements.
To succeed in your assignment, you take responsibility for keeping yourself updated on current trends and new knowledge in the field of communication.
Your tasks will also periodically include supporting the press service, where contact with journalists and communication support to spokespersons is part of the duties. You will also periodically monitor our functional mailbox for incoming web publishing support to the organization.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant academic education in communication or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position
- At least five years of experience, within the last ten years, of qualified strategic and operational communication work
- Documented experience in providing communication advice to managers and/or management groups
- Experience working in a politically governed organization, where the communication assignment can have a complex nature with many stakeholders
- Experience in writing clear language
- Experience in publishing in web publishing tools
- Experience in developing pedagogical and visually supportive presentations that support the communication assignment
Furthermore, you should have the following abilities:
- To independently take responsibility for your tasks; make independent and well-balanced assessments
- Analytical, ability to see the whole and the context
- Pedagogical and clear in your communication
- To meet others based on their needs; collaborative and unpretentious
- Very good communicative ability in the Swedish language, both spoken and written
- Basic communicative ability in English, spoken and written
It is also meritorious if you have:
- Experience in external and internal crisis communication
- Experience in internal communication with a focus on communicative leadership
- Experience in building effective communication systems
Other
The position is 100 percent and permanent. We usually apply a six-month probationary period. The position is located in Stockholm or Gävle by agreement. Travel may occur in the service. This position may require an approved security clearance according to the Security Protection Act. As an employee, you may also be assigned based on the needs of total defense.
