The Technical Division operates independently and consists of five areas: Street/Park/Harbor, Nyköping Water, Waste Management, Municipal Properties, and Meal Services. These are supported by a project department, finance department, and an administrative staff. The division employs about 400 staff and has an annual turnover of over 1 billion SEK. Our clients are the Municipal Executive Board, the Environmental and Community Planning Committee, and the Culture and Recreation Committee.

Nyköping Water is responsible for all water and wastewater operations within Nyköping Municipality, which includes the operation, maintenance, and new construction of water and wastewater plants, pumping stations, and pipeline networks. The operations include 7 water treatment plants, 3 water towers, 12 wastewater treatment plants, and 90 wastewater pumping stations, a pipeline network of 100 miles, and its own water laboratory. The operations encompass the management, maintenance, and development of water and wastewater infrastructure. Nyköping is expanding, which requires that the water operations stay at the forefront with investigations and the development of our operations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Nyköping Water is now seeking a quality-conscious and flexible laboratory technician for the water laboratory. Educational and experience background will determine which tasks will be relevant. As a laboratory technician, you will perform chemical and physical analyses on drinking water, wastewater, and sludge. Water sampling in the field is part of the job responsibilities. Since the laboratory is accredited according to ISO 17025, it is important to follow procedures and document work according to the requirements set for accredited operations. Documentation and quality work are an important part of your duties. The work is varied. It requires taking personal responsibility and following established procedures. The core of the position is practical laboratory work.

Main job responsibilities include:

• Sample handling, preparing solutions, and performing analyses
• Cleaning and tidying in the laboratory
• Customer reception, sample registration
• Field sampling

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• has completed high school education with full grades.
• is studying or has completed university education with a focus on chemistry.
• has good computer skills; knowledge of Word and Excel is an advantage.
• holds a valid driver's license (B).
• has a good ability to express themselves in Swedish, both spoken and written.
• can read and understand English.

It is an advantage if you have:

• experience in chemical analyses, preferably water analyses.
• worked under ISO 17025, GMP, or similar quality systems.
• experience working with analytical instruments.
• experience with LIMS systems.
• experience in various types of water sampling.
