The Culture and Leisure Administration is seeking a librarian with extra collaboration responsibility focusing on systems and digital structure for library environments. In the role of developer of library operations with a focus on school libraries and public libraries in collaboration, you have the opportunity to help build the organization and shape the assignment. This initiative is a strategic collaboration between the Culture and Leisure Administration and the School Administration to develop school libraries into pedagogical hubs in the city and to build bridges to public library operations.

The team consists of five people. You will work closely with colleagues at the Language Center Mölndal, which gives you the opportunity to be a boundary walker and link between the school world and the library needs of children and young people in their leisure time. Together, you will work for an enhanced collaboration between school libraries and public libraries and to strengthen students' access to a staffed and active school library. The position this ad concerns has an extra focus on the common development opportunities of public and school libraries regarding systems and technology as well as media and information literacy (MIL).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a librarian with extra responsibility for collaboration with schools, you will participate in development initiatives through the newly formed school library team. Your work will focus on strengthening collaboration between school libraries and public libraries, as well as developing common working methods and resources, with a focus on technical resources.

Your tasks include:

  • Development initiatives for increased collaboration between public libraries and school libraries. For example:
  • Supporting the development of the physical spaces of school libraries.
  • Supporting the establishment of media collections, media processes, and flows around media as well as common databases and e-book offerings.
  • Supporting the development of working methods and methods for those responsible for school libraries.
  • Having an active monitoring of the environment to keep updated on trends and developments in the library field, especially regarding library-related systems and technology.
  • Developing and procuring common digital environments for public and school libraries, such as library data systems.
  • Planning and conducting training initiatives for school library managers, sometimes in collaboration with public library children's and youth librarians.
  • Being a link between students in school and the library needs of children and young people in their leisure time, thereby contributing to a holistic view of children's and young people's reading and learning. Your work is based on the needs raised in the city's school library network. The team is responsible for a common annual wheel with fixed activities.
  • Being part of the public library operations through, for example, support in technical issues as well as activities aimed at children and young people and their adults.
  • Participating in networks such as VGR's school library group, school librarians, and school library managers (school library network) within the city as well as the public libraries' coordination group for children and youth and the public libraries' Youth Council.

QUALIFICATIONS

It is a given for you to always have the target group's best interests in mind, and you are driven by meeting and helping children and young people. As a person, you are creative, curious, and action-oriented. You are cooperative and flexible in your daily work, and you have a genuine interest in building bridges between different operations. You have the ability to see the whole in complex issues and find paths to solutions.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has a relevant academic degree for the assignment with at least a bachelor's degree, preferably in library and information science or another education that the employer assesses as relevant.
  • has very good IT skills and interest in digital issues with application regarding catalogs, databases, and web within the library field.
  • has a strong pedagogical drive and enjoys working with children and young people, both in school and in their leisure time.
  • has good knowledge of MIL-related issues such as AI, source criticism/source reliability, and understands the role of media in society.
  • communicates fluently in speech and writing in Swedish and preferably more languages.
  • is stable, self-driven, and can take on many unplanned varying tasks.
  • is a curious and solution-focused team player who has a desire to develop the city's library operations.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience in pedagogical work.
  • Experience in digital issues with application in the library field.
  • Experience in conducting training and speaking in front of groups.
  • Experience in working with networks and collaboration between different operations.
  • B driver's license.
