Cultural Administration is Hiring a Building Antiquarian
The Cultural Administration works for a broad art and cultural life for everyone to participate in. We strive for a sustainable and open city that places culture and art at its center.
The Cultural Administration has approximately 800 employees who mainly operate within libraries, cultural centers, museums, and other cultural activities.
Job Responsibilities
The Cultural Environment Unit at the Gothenburg City Museum is tasked with safeguarding and highlighting the city's cultural values by being the Cultural Administration's case and referral handling instance in cultural environment matters.
We produce knowledge bases, contribute to public activities, and manage the museum's collections. Additionally, we are responsible for place name preparation and conduct commissioned work in the fields of archaeology and building history. The Cultural Environment Unit consists of 13 employees, mainly building antiquarians and archaeologists, who work to deepen the understanding of the city's historical and cultural heritage.
We are now looking for a building antiquarian focused on building knowledge about the city's culturally and historically valuable buildings, who wants to contribute to our work in preserving and developing cultural heritage values as a resource in urban development.
As a building antiquarian in the Cultural Environment Unit, you will work with your colleagues on cultural historical inventory, valuation, and classification of buildings in the city of Gothenburg. You may also provide advice, manage cases, and handle referrals related to cultural environment matters connected to urban development processes.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree from a building antiquarian program or another university education that the employer deems equivalent. You have documented experience in culturally historical inventory, valuation, and classification of buildings and building areas. Furthermore, you have worked with cultural environment issues based on applicable legislation, such as the Planning and Building Act, the Cultural Heritage Act, and the Environmental Code. A B driver's license is required for the position. Experience working in project form and familiarity with GIS-based systems and Adobe programs is an advantage.
We seek someone who is self-sufficient and confident in making decisions within the framework of your assignment. You work goal-oriented, take responsibility, and drive your tasks forward in a structured manner. When circumstances change, you can reprioritize and adapt your work without losing focus on results and goal fulfillment. You have good collaboration skills, listen, and contribute to a constructive work environment. Additionally, you plan and organize your work efficiently and have strong analytical abilities that allow you to identify problems, see connections, and propose well-thought-out solutions.
