Description

We are looking for an engaged and knowledgeable school librarian who wants to help develop our three primary schools F–9.

Our schools are characterized by safety, study peace, and good relationships, where the student's learning is at the center. As a school librarian, you will be an important part of our educational work and contribute to strengthening students' language, reading, and information skills.

You will work both independently and in close collaboration with educators, student health, and school management. The position involves work at three schools with varying student backgrounds and environments, providing a dynamic and stimulating everyday life. The position is a fixed-term temporary position.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for the daily operations of the school libraries at our three units.
• Support students' reading development and actively work with reading promotion initiatives.
• Plan and conduct library lessons and activities related to reading, source criticism, and information retrieval.
• Collaborate with teachers to integrate the library into teaching and contribute to students' goal fulfillment.
• Build and develop an attractive, accessible, and pedagogical learning environment in the libraries.
• Be responsible for media selection, purchasing, cataloging, and operation of library systems.
• Support both students and staff in the use of digital resources.
• Work strategically to strengthen the role of school libraries in the schools' systematic quality work.

Qualifications

• Degree in library and information science or equivalent competence.
• Good knowledge of children's and young people's literature.
• Ability to plan, organize, and develop operations independently.
• Good digital competence and experience working with digital learning resources.
• Pedagogical ability and interest in working closely with students and educators.

Conditions

• Experience working in school libraries or educational activities.
• Knowledge in source criticism, information retrieval, and media and information literacy (MIL).
• Experience with library systems.
• Experience working in multiple workplaces or in a municipal organization.
• The position is distributed across three F–9 schools within the municipality.
• Start date according to agreement.
• Salary according to agreement and individual salary setting.
• Travel between schools is included in the position; a driver's license is required.
• The position is a temporary position as our current school librarian is going on parental leave.
