Library Assistant with Collaboration Responsibility for School Cooperation
In the city of Mölndal, we take pride in having Sweden's most important job, where we together create the best possible everyday life for our citizens. With knowledge, courage, and creativity, we develop our operations and contribute to making Mölndal an even better place to live and work. Welcome to make a difference in people's everyday lives every day!
The Culture and Leisure Administration is looking for a library assistant with extra collaboration responsibility for school cooperation focusing on promoting reading and media and information literacy (MIK).
We are now starting, together with the school administration, a new organization with a team of three school librarians employed by the school administration and two librarians with extra collaboration responsibility employed by the Culture and Leisure Administration. Together, we will work for increased equity and quality within primary and adapted primary schools – and increase collaboration between public and school libraries. Welcome to challenge and be challenged together with us!
In the role of developer of library operations focusing on school libraries and public libraries in collaboration, you have the opportunity to help build the organization and shape the assignment in an innovative and forward-looking way. The initiative is a strategic collaboration between the Culture and Leisure Administration and the school administration to develop school libraries into pedagogical hubs in the city and to build bridges to public library operations.
The team consists of five people. You will work closely with colleagues at the Language Center Mölndal, which gives you the opportunity to be a boundary walker and link between the school world and children's and young people's library needs during their leisure time. Together, you will work for an enhanced collaboration between school libraries and public libraries and to strengthen students' access to a staffed and active school library.
The position this advertisement concerns has an extra focus on children's and young people's reading development and media and information literacy (MIK).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a librarian with extra responsibility for collaboration with schools, you will participate in development initiatives through the newly formed school library team. Your work will focus on strengthening collaboration between school libraries and public libraries, as well as developing common working methods and resources. You will carry out initiatives at both public libraries and schools, such as MIK lessons, book talks, or other reading promotion initiatives.
Your responsibilities include:
- Development initiatives for increased collaboration between public libraries and school libraries. For example:
- Support the development of the physical spaces of school libraries.
- Support the establishment of media collections, media processes, and flows around media as well as common databases and e-book offerings.
- Support the development of working methods and methods for those responsible for school libraries.
- Have active environmental monitoring to keep yourself updated on trends and developments in the library field.
- Plan and implement training initiatives for, among others, those responsible for school libraries, sometimes in collaboration with public libraries' children's and youth librarians.
- Be a link between students in schools and children's and young people's library needs during their leisure time, thereby contributing to a holistic view of children's and young people's reading and learning. Your work is based both on the needs raised in the city's school library network. The team is responsible for a common annual cycle with fixed activities.
- Be part of public library operations through, for example, activities aimed at children and young people and their adults.
- Participate in networks such as VGR's school library group, school librarians, and school library coordinators (the school library network) within the city as well as the public libraries' coordination group for children and young people and the public libraries' Youth Council.
Your Profile
It is a given for you to always have the target group's best interests in mind, and you are driven by meeting and helping children and young people. As a person, you are creative, curious, and action-oriented. You are cooperative and flexible in your daily work, and you have a genuine interest in building bridges between different operations. You have the ability to see the whole in complex issues and find ways to solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who:
