Job Description:

Do you want to work with reading promotion initiatives while mentoring young people in their first work experience?

In the summer of 2026, we will fill the after-school centers with stories, laughter, read-aloud sessions, and imagination in collaboration with nearby public libraries through the projects Reading Rules, and we need you to help make it happen! Therefore, we are looking for mentors who will guide young people to develop as reading role models in their interactions with after-school students.

As a mentor, you are the security, direction, and energy behind the mission. You coach the young people in their first work experience, support them in planning and executing reading promotion activities, and help them find their way to engage with children through play and stories. You are close to the operations, collaborate with after-school centers, school libraries, and public libraries, and ensure that the joy of reading is present every day. Together, you will follow up and develop the work during the period. This is a mentoring and developmental assignment with a focus on leadership, language, and pedagogy.

This summer, we are the ones who ensure that reading truly rules!

Period and Scope

Project period: weeks 25-27
Start and training: week 24 (Thursday + Friday)
Placement: Placement may occur at Brunnsboskolan, Bräckeskolan, Björlandaskolan, and Lilla Trulsegårdsskolan, or Ängåsskolan and Vättnedalsskolan.

Employment is through: School

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Is currently enrolled in a teacher training program with a focus on after-school centers or is pursuing a librarian education
• Is preferably in the final semester and wants to apply theory in practice
• Has good knowledge of Swedish

Experience in the following is an advantage:

• Language development work
• Reading promotion initiatives
• Mentoring or leadership

As a person:

• you are secure and clear in your leadership
• you easily create relationships and make others feel included
• you enjoy being a role model – and know that small things can make a big difference
• you are creative enough to think “let's do a book treasure hunt!”
