About the job

The libraries in Uddevalla consist of the four units: the city library, Dalaberg library, Rampens library, and Ljungskile library.

In the autumn/winter of 2026, Uddevalla's city library will move to Kungsgatan.

We are now looking for a project-employed librarian educator who can develop our reading promotion work for children and young people through new methods, collaborations, and events.

The target group is children and young people aged 3 to 18 years. Parts of the project have a special focus on children and young people with disabilities. The project is intended to be multi-year, with annual funding from the Cultural Council. You will be employed for one year at a time with good opportunities for extension.

The first year aims to build collaborations and conduct pilot tests of various activities and working methods. The following year, what has worked best will be developed and deepened so that it can eventually be implemented in regular operations.

Responsibilities

  • Create reading-promoting activities together with and for children and young people. This means meeting the target group at the library as well as through outreach activities.
  • Prepare, plan, execute, evaluate, and document in collaboration with children's and youth librarians.
  • Build networks and develop collaborations with various actors working with children and young people to reach the target group and their adults.

As a librarian educator with us, you work independently, but you can always bounce ideas and thoughts with the team of children's and youth librarians.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Creative – You are innovative and come up with ideas for new working methods that can be implemented in practice.
  • Proactive – You take initiative, start activities, and achieve results.
  • Structured – You plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively. Set and adhere to timelines.
  • Relationship-building – You are outgoing and socially active. You create contacts and maintain relationships.

We would like you to have knowledge of or interest in the media worlds of children and young people and language development to inspire the target group to read. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Qualifications

You should have relevant education in library science, pedagogy, or similar fields. It is also important that you have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish in both speech and writing.

Driving license B

It is an advantage if you:

  • Have previously worked with or have extensive knowledge of children and young people with disabilities.
  • Are familiar with UX methods or similar methods for user-driven business development.
  • Have knowledge of languages other than Swedish and English.
