The Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialist healthcare of the highest quality.

Are you ready to take the next step in your nursing career? At Surgical Ward 2, you will work in a modern and inspiring environment where advanced technology meets human presence.

Here, you will have the opportunity to provide both acute surgical care and palliative care at the highest level – while also developing in your professional role.

Our ward, part of the Surgery and Orthopedics Department, consists of 28 state-of-the-art single rooms. Nurses, nursing assistants, paramedics, and doctors work together in teams that promote collaboration, learning, and patient-safe, person-centered care. We have a very good work climate, and everyone truly enjoys being together, both in everyday life and during intense times – a place where colleagues support each other and celebrate successes together.

We care for patients with everything from acute surgical diseases, traumatic injuries, and urological issues, to planned surgeries and palliative care beds. You will work closely with pain teams, mobile palliative teams, dietitians, and local healthcare teams – a truly interdisciplinary collaboration.

New to surgery or a newly graduated nurse? No worries!

We offer a secure and flexible introduction over four weeks, where you will receive support and mentorship based on your needs.

Clinical Foundation Year

For newly graduated nurses/radiology nurses, a Clinical Foundation Year is included during the first year of your permanent employment. The Clinical Foundation Year includes lectures, process-oriented nursing guidance, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. It also includes shadowing in other departments to give you a broader understanding of the hospital where you work. This is an initiative aimed at giving you the opportunity to further develop in your profession and build your professional identity.

This is your chance to grow in a professional, learning, and warm team, while also developing your professional identity in both surgery and palliative care.

• Is a licensed nurse (experience in surgery/palliative care is an advantage but not a requirement)
