Temporary Position as Librarian at LTH

Workplace Description

The LTH library provides user-centered services to the faculty's students, teachers, and researchers, as well as to the public. The library actively collaborates within the library network at Lund University and participates in various groups to develop library services and offerings.

One of our employees will soon be on parental leave, and we are looking for a temporary librarian who can conduct teaching during HT26 and VT27. There is a well-developed framework for performing the work, and you will have the opportunity for some introduction and training. The position is located at the LTH library.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include, among other things:

  • Teaching information retrieval, source criticism, and reference management in LTH's programs and courses.
  • Participating in the pedagogical process in collaboration with course responsible teachers.
  • Planning and driving work related to academic writing for students in collaboration between librarians and language educators.
  • Maintaining contact with other departments and areas of operation within LTH.
  • Marketing the teaching services that fall within the library's mission.
  • Actively working with accessibility and inclusion in teaching materials and in your own teaching methodology.

The position also includes general librarian tasks, including service at the information and loan desk and other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has experience teaching in libraries and can convey knowledge to both large and small groups. Your ambition is to contribute to students' learning and increase their information literacy. You are familiar with the latest pedagogical developments in libraries and education, and you are curious and interested in the opportunities available in the profession.

You have a positive attitude towards constructive change and are eager to present ideas that develop the operations.

Requirements for the Position:

  • Academic degree in library and information science, or experience that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Work experience from libraries.
  • Experience in giving presentations/lectures or similar.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious for the Position:

  • Work experience from libraries in education; school, college, or university libraries.
  • Experience in planning and developing teaching in media and information literacy, preferably in collaboration with educators and teachers.
  • Experience in teaching within the framework of library operations.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, initiative, and collaboration skills. Consideration will be given to how the applicant, through their experience and competence, is assessed to complement and strengthen the work within LTH's library and contribute to its future development.

The position is a temporary position for one year, 100% full-time. Start date from 2026-06-01 or as agreed.
