Your Mission

We at the adapted primary school are now looking for three to four special education teachers.

The position means that you, as a special education teacher, will teach a group of students who are studying subject areas. Based on the governing documents available in the adapted primary school, you will collaborate with other educators and teachers to plan, implement, and evaluate the activities. Communication work is an essential part of our operations. We work daily with sign language communication, digital tools, visual supports, and clarifying pedagogy.

You will be pedagogically responsible for the development of the student group based on applicable governing documents. Furthermore, as a special education teacher, you will also supervise the educational assistants included in the work team. The work also includes contact and collaboration with external agencies such as habilitation.

Workplace Description

The adapted primary school is located in the industrial community of Ljusne at the mouth of the Ljusnan River. We have close access to forests, rivers, and the sea. The school area also includes primary school grades F-9 and Ljusne preschool. Here, the public library and school library share facilities. The two school buildings are from the 1950s and 1970s and have been renovated several times over the years to adapt to the operations.

The adapted primary school consists of eight student groups with a total of about 40 students, from grades 1-9. Two of the student groups study subjects, and six groups study subject areas.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone who is a qualified special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities, alternatively a teacher with a focus on special education or has other qualifications that we consider equivalent.

Experience working in an adapted primary school and knowledge of students within the autism spectrum and intellectual disabilities is meritorious, as well as having good knowledge of AAC (alternative and augmentative communication). It is also seen as an advantage if you have good digital skills, including in the learning platform Unikum and in the method Scen:se.

As a person, it is important that you are independent and have good collaboration skills. We would like you to be the one who initiates activities and takes initiative. You work well with others and communicate and resolve conflicts constructively. It is also significant to have the ability to easily establish contact and maintain relationships. You are clear in your communication, attentive, and adapt easily to different situations, ensuring that the message reaches the recipient.

Furthermore, it is important that you have a good understanding of your role and prioritize the best interests of the organization in your actions and decision-making. You are structured and prioritize work effectively. It is also important that you understand the different aspects of the work and continuously maintain your specialist knowledge.
