Educational Developer at Mid Sweden University

The Department of Research and Educational Support (FUS) at Mid Sweden University offers expertise in internationalization, pedagogical development, lifelong learning, research funding, and innovation. Here, there are about forty competent employees with various experiences.

We are now looking for an educational developer to work on the implementation of a new learning platform at Mid Sweden University.

We are now looking for a platform educator who is passionate about supporting and inspiring teachers in their use of digital tools for teaching. In this role, you will be a key person in the work of integrating our new learning platform into the university's educational activities.

The position is placed within the unit for Pedagogical Development, Lifelong Learning, and Collaboration, PULS.

Responsibilities

Mid Sweden University is in the process of transitioning from the Moodle learning platform to Canvas during the period 2024–2026. The implementation of Canvas as the new learning platform is designed so that teachers can receive clear and close support in the transition and the development that occurs after the switch. This position is one of two types that will strengthen the support available for technology-supported learning at the university during the project period. The project's vision includes creating a more cohesive way for how course rooms are designed at the university, aimed at facilitating for both teachers and students.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Developing technical solutions in Canvas and integrating other systems into the learning platform.
• Providing ongoing support to users and helping them resolve technical, pedagogical, and didactic questions related to Canvas.
• Supporting teachers in using other digital tools that complement Canvas, such as Zoom, Kaltura, Padlet, Mentimeter, and administrative support systems.

You will also work on:

• Contributing to the development of guides, materials, and courses to support Canvas users.
• Adapting and developing educational forms and content based on needs expressed by teachers, subject groups, and institutions.
• Being an active link in relation to our institutions and contributing to driving change and development in teaching through digital solutions.
• Training and mentoring teachers on how to use the Canvas learning platform to create an engaging and effective teaching environment.

Your Background

We are looking for someone who has:

• Documented experience in driving organization-wide development and implementation projects related to the Canvas learning platform, for example as a lead administrator.
• Documented experience in driving organization-wide development and implementation projects related to Sunet Survey and other systems that can be integrated into Canvas. This requires experience with the installation of LTI 1.3.
• Documented experience in providing ongoing technical, pedagogical, and didactic support to users in the Canvas learning platform.
• Documented experience in leading training initiatives for university teachers regarding technical, pedagogical, and didactic solutions in Canvas.
• Relevant education in computer science and pedagogy.
• Strong communication skills in both spoken and written Swedish and English.

It is particularly meritorious if you:

• Have previously worked in a role where you supported teachers in the use of digital tools in teaching.
• Have experience working process- or project-oriented with documented good outcomes.

Your Qualities

You have good collaboration skills and see your own work as part of a larger effort. This means you are responsive to the needs of teachers and operations.

You have a good pedagogical and didactic understanding of learning and teaching.

You also need to be able to work independently towards the project's set goals based on the needs of individual teachers, groups of teachers, and institutions.

It is essential that you are responsible, proactive, and have a very good ability to meet deadlines.

To succeed in this role, you need to be creative and solution-oriented with the ability to turn ideas into practical solutions.

The employment is a special fixed-term position full-time starting from 2026-04-01 or by agreement/but no longer than until 2027-03-31.
