Job Responsibilities

The Department of Automatic Control is seeking up to two research engineers with a strong background in machine learning and LLMs, computer science, and modeling.

The candidate will work within the project “AI-driven predictive maintenance for buildings (https://www.liveinlab.kth.se/en/projekt/r-d-projects/ai-driven-predictive-maintenance-for-buildings-aida-b-1.1397533)”. The project is conducted in collaboration with Assistant Professor Angela Fontan (KTH/EECS) and Professor Kjartan Gudmundsson (KTH/ABE), with support and contributions from EM through discussions, workshops, and project follow-ups.

The project is inspired by Einar Mattsson's goal of using AI to optimize maintenance planning in existing buildings by utilizing historical and real-time data to identify the optimal timing and scope for renovations or material replacements. The initiative aims to reduce costs while promoting sustainability in the built environment and ensuring the comfort of building users. The project's goal is to identify the key cost drivers for building maintenance and to develop accurate cost forecasts for different types of residential buildings through data collection and analysis.

The job responsibilities include developing an AI-accessible knowledge environment (by structuring extracted invoice, service case, and maintenance data) and, above all, designing an AI chatbot (that can interact in and understand Swedish, including slang) to enable efficient data querying for users.

Requirements

  • Completed degree at the undergraduate or graduate level (higher education) in the subject of the employment or equivalent competence.

Meritorious

  • Good knowledge of Swedish is an advantage, as the role involves handling text and data in Swedish.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary according to agreement - for up to 3 months, with start date according to agreement.
