Textile Craft Teacher for Grades 3–9 at Montessoriskolan Älvkullen

Kungälv | Permanent

Do you want to teach textile craft at a small school where relationships, calm work environment, and creativity truly matter?

This autumn, our appreciated textile craft teacher will retire after many years with us. The position is a permanent employment and covers approximately 25%. It can preferably be scheduled on one weekday. There is possibly an opportunity to combine it with another subject for those who wish.

Montessoriskolan Älvkullen is located in the heart of Kungälv, halfway up Fontinberget with a view over the Nordre River. Here, we have proximity to both city and nature, which we regularly use in our teaching. The school is a small F–9 operation with about 140 students and around 30 staff members. In the building, we also have our preschool with about 25 children.

We have our own kitchen where food is prepared from scratch every day, and students eat in their classrooms to create calm and harmonious meals. The small organization allows us to know our students well, collaborate closely across grade boundaries, and have short decision-making paths.

As a textile craft teacher with us, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on teaching in grades 3–9 according to Lgr22. You will meet students both in their first stitches and in more advanced projects, and have the opportunity to build progression over several years. We would like you to continue developing the subject, perhaps by working with sustainability, recycling, or interdisciplinary collaborations. You will work closely with our wood and metal craft teacher. The school's small size also provides plenty of room for ideas and initiatives, and we appreciate teachers who want to contribute to the whole.

We work according to Maria Montessori's pedagogy, which means we strive to help students become independent and take responsibility for their own learning. In crafts, we see how concentration, perseverance, and joy of creation emerge when students can work practically and at their own pace. Our goal is for every student to be seen, challenged, and allowed to develop based on their conditions.

As a new teacher with us, you will have a colleague with dedicated time to support you in the introduction, both in pedagogical matters and in practical everyday work. Collaboration and openness are central parts of our culture.

We are looking for someone who has a teaching license with qualifications in craft/textile craft and who is confident in your leadership. You have a good ability to create structure and calm work environment while building relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. Experience is an advantage, but we place great importance on personal suitability and commitment.

We are recruiting continuously and look forward to your application.
