University Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering

Your Responsibilities

Your employment includes research, teaching, and supervision at both undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as work to develop courses and educational programs. You will primarily teach mechanical engineering with a particular focus on mechanics, strength of materials, machine elements, mechatronics, programming, and machine learning (AI) at pre-university and basic levels. Teaching also includes advanced levels in programs related to programming and machine learning (AI). The position also includes professional development corresponding to 20% of working hours.

As a university lecturer, you are expected to be active in following the developments in your field and the societal developments that are relevant to the university's activities. You are also expected to take an active role in the subject collegium at the academy, both in the pedagogical development of the subjects and in the work of developing engineering programs together with colleagues. Part of the assignment particularly involves developing the mechanical engineering subject with a focus on automation and AI within the university's engineering education.

The position also includes seeking, developing, and driving new research projects related to the academy's research areas.

Your Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you must have a PhD in mechanical engineering or automation. You also need to have documented scientific proficiency in mechanical engineering or automation as well as documented pedagogical proficiency in the same areas. Furthermore, good computer skills and strong programming skills in Python and C/C++ are required. The role also requires you to communicate fluently in both Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.

As a person, you have good collaboration skills and are used to working closely with colleagues. You have a proven structured working method, including good planning, and you take initiative when needed. You also have the ability to prioritize between different tasks and are described as a present and engaged colleague.

A general eligibility requirement for permanent employment as a teacher is completion of higher education pedagogical training equivalent to 10 weeks of full-time studies, or equivalent competence. An employee lacking higher education pedagogical training must complete the training within the first two years of employment.

Meritorious:

  • Experience in teaching and supervision at the university level
  • Previous experience as a subject responsible
  • Experience in developing and driving courses and education at a distance

Employment type: Permanent position. A six-month probationary period may apply.
