University Lecturer in Educational Science with a Focus on Swedish Didactics

Job Responsibilities:

As a university lecturer, you will primarily work with teaching and research within the teacher education programs, all of which have a clear AIL profile (work-integrated education). The position also includes collaboration with the surrounding community as well as pedagogical, scientific, subject, and subject-didactic development work.

The position will also involve collaboration with the surrounding community and pedagogical, scientific, subject, and subject-didactic focused development work. Teaching is mainly conducted on campus or remotely. In some cases, teaching may also occur locally with various school authorities, for example, didactic interventions during teacher students' practical training or in commissioned training conducted by the principal.

As a university lecturer, you are expected to take an active responsibility for conducting and further developing research in the areas of teacher education, in close collaboration with colleagues within relevant research environments and research groups.

Eligibility Requirements for Employment as a University Lecturer:

• Demonstrated pedagogical skill (Chapter 4, Section 4 HF). Applicants lacking pedagogical merits from an academic environment must have competence equivalent to the university's eligibility requirements, although this may have been achieved in ways other than within the academic environment.
• Completed higher education pedagogical training of at least ten weeks or equivalent competence. If higher education pedagogical training is lacking, employment may still occur on the condition that the employee completes the training during the first two years of employment.
• Completed doctoral degree or equivalent scientific competence or some other professional skill that is significant in relation to the subject content of the position and the tasks to be included in the employment (Chapter 4, Section 4 HF).

For this position, the following is also required:

• Doctoral degree with a focus on early literacy development in Swedish or another closely related subject area.
• Documented experience and ability to teach in Swedish.
• Documented good collaborative skills.

Meritorious for the position are:

• Pedagogical competence in the area of early literacy development in Swedish.
• Teaching certification and experience in primary school teaching.
• Well-rated experience of teaching and supervising within teacher education or adjacent relevant programs.
• Documented experience of having participated in and led national and international research networks.
• Documented experience of having applied for and received external research funding.
• Experience of practice-developing research.
• Knowledge of cognitive science perspectives on reading and writing development.
• Knowledge of and experience with work-integrated learning as content and pedagogical starting point.
• Documented experience and ability to teach in English.

When hiring a university lecturer, equal care should be given to assessing pedagogical skill as to other eligibility criteria. In the assessment of skill, the subject area of the position, subject description, and job responsibilities will be considered.

Other:

The position is a permanent employment. A six-month probationary period may be applied. In the selection process, it may be relevant to conduct trial lectures, work samples, interviews, and reference checks.
