Your Responsibilities

Your employment includes research, teaching, and supervision at both undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as work to develop courses and educational programs. You will primarily teach subjects such as industrial economics, supply chain management, lean, production technology, and logistics at the pre-university and undergraduate levels. The teaching also includes advanced levels related to programs in programming and machine learning (AI). The position also includes professional development corresponding to 20% of the working time.

As an Assistant Professor, you are expected to actively follow developments in your subject area and the societal developments relevant to the university's activities. You are also expected to take an active role in the subject collegium at the academy, both in the pedagogical development of the subjects and in the development of engineering programs together with colleagues. This includes working to further develop the subject of industrial economics with a focus on AI applications within the university's engineering education.

Your employment also includes seeking, developing, and driving new research projects linked to the academy's research areas. The research is primarily intended to be connected to the research group Industrial Economics. The position provides you with good opportunities to develop your independence as a teacher and researcher, and to qualify both scientifically and pedagogically to meet the eligibility requirements for a future appointment as a university lecturer. As an Assistant Professor, you also have the right to apply for promotion to university lecturer at the University of Borås.

Your Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you need to have a PhD in industrial economics. Primarily, applicants who have obtained their PhD, or achieved equivalent competence, no more than five years before the application deadline will be considered. You should also have completed higher education pedagogical training comprising at least ten weeks of full-time studies. If you lack such training and are not assessed to have equivalent knowledge in another way, you are expected to complete the training during the first two years of employment. Furthermore, you need to have documented scientific competence in industrial economics and be able to communicate fluently in both spoken and written Swedish and English. Good computer skills are also a requirement.

As a person, you have good collaboration skills and are used to working closely with colleagues. You have a proven structured approach to work, which is evident through good planning, and you demonstrate the ability to both take initiative and prioritize between tasks. You are also a colleague who is described as present and engaged.

Meritorious

  • Research experience and publications beyond the PhD in the field of Industrial Economics.
  • Experience with research funding applications and participation in research projects.
  • Pedagogical skills in Industrial Economics.

Your Employment

The employment is permanent, but for a limited period of at least four and at most six years as determined by the university before your employment begins. The purpose of the employment is to give you the opportunity to develop your independence as a researcher and to qualify both scientifically and pedagogically so that you meet the eligibility requirements for a future appointment as a university lecturer.

During the employment period, you have the right to apply for promotion to a permanent position as a university lecturer. To be promoted, you must demonstrate the scientific competence and teaching ability required for a university lecturer according to the University of Borås's employment regulations.
