Uppsala Youth Emergency Service is now looking for a coordinator who is flexible and has the ability to see opportunities in changes. Do you have previous experience working in social administration and want to work with coordination, environmental monitoring, and preventive measures for children and youth in collaboration? Uppsala Youth Emergency Service is part of the social services' interventions for children and youth. The mission of the Youth Emergency Service is to work with preventive and outreach measures in collaboration with other authorities and actors in society. Uppsala Youth Emergency Service is a unit without regulatory authority that works with outreach and crime prevention efforts in the field in collaboration with, among others, schools, social services, police, and leisure services.
The unit consists of several coordinators, field secretaries, and social workers in schools and in the field, as well as counselors. The work is conducted locally in several areas in Uppsala and centrally with coordination of various types of social interventions. Job Description
Working as a coordinator at Uppsala Youth Emergency Service primarily involves developing and implementing long-term strategies, creating, anchoring, and following up action programs. This means being responsible for the local team's mission in a geographical area in Uppsala within the collaboration model SSPF – school, social services, police, leisure. The coordinator works with youth and their guardians at the individual, group, and community levels. The coordinator is tasked with leading the smaller team of social workers both in schools and in the field. Together, you will work in an outreach, coordinated, and supportive manner. The purpose of the work is to increase the detection of youth at risk of drugs and crime and other socially destructive behaviors through formalized collaboration, motivate lifestyle changes, and through structured networking minimize the risk of these youth falling through the cracks. The coordinator is responsible for being the gateway to various supportive functions. The job also includes:
- Coordinating preventive measures both during the day and in the evening.
- Participating in incident and risk analyses based on the situational awareness tool EST Embrace.
- Participating in meetings and leading gatherings such as area groups & networking meetings.
- Planning, initiating, and implementing activities.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent to a university degree. You need experience working within social administration and good knowledge of social work with children and youth. A B driver's license is required. Good knowledge of Swedish, both written and spoken, is a prerequisite for the position.
It is meritorious to have:
- Training in Signs of Safety.
- Training in System Theory.
- Good knowledge of multicultural work.

You see opportunities for development and maintain a calm, stable, and focused attitude even in stressful situations. You are attentive, collaborative, and easily build trusting relationships with both youth and colleagues. With good communication skills, you express yourself clearly and engagingly in front of both individuals and groups, while also listening and adapting to needs. You have a creative and solution-oriented approach, contribute new ideas, and implement them in practice in a way that leads to concrete results.
