Administrator at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transport.

The Kristianstad operational area is part of the Southern region of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service and currently includes the Kristianstad prison, located about 10 km south of Kristianstad. Currently, the prison has approximately 145 inmates and 120 employees. We are undergoing a significant capacity increase, and a lot is happening in the operational area in terms of renovations and new constructions. In a few years, the new prison Vä is expected to accommodate about 600 inmates and have 500 employees. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but there are also healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The job responsibilities include, among other things, registration in several client administrative systems and processing documents such as inmate wages, decisions, judgments, etc. You will be responsible for archives, diaries, mail handling, orders, some financial administration, and procurement coordination. The job also includes other administrative tasks.

It is expected that you have a good understanding of the principle of public access while ensuring that confidentiality is maintained. Client-facing tasks may occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is independent, calm, stable, and service-oriented. You are proactive, open to rapid changes, and development-oriented. Processing is a significant part of the legal process, and therefore it is required that you are meticulous and structured. You have good judgment, are quality-conscious, can make the right priorities, and are used to working at a fast pace at times. The work as an administrator is a service function, and you enjoy working both independently and in close collaboration with other employees at the prison, as well as with other actors both within and outside the authority.

We are looking for someone who has:

• A minimum of a high school diploma, preferably with an administrative or economic focus, or other education combined with relevant experience that the employer deems equivalent.
• Documented experience of administrative work within public administration.
• A good administrative ability with a high degree of structure and accuracy in your work.
• Good IT skills.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• A valid driver's license (B).

We would also like you to have:

• Experience of office/administrative work within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Experience from an authority within the judicial system.
• Knowledge of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's administrative systems UBW, KVR, and Platina.
• Experience in diary management.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping.
• Experience in working with administrative data systems.
• Post-secondary education in economics/law.
