Tunaskolan, located in the Tuna area between Mjölkudden and Notviken, has one of Luleå's larger catchment areas. The school has about 590 students. Inside Tunaskolan, there is also a special school, which means that we within our school have opportunities to collaborate with each other. The school is self-sufficient in terms of premises, which means that we avoid traveling to other schools when students need to attend practical-aesthetic subjects.

In the area, we also have good contacts with associations, including Notvikens IK and Vråken. Through collaboration with Notvikens IK, the school can utilize their entire facility with football fields and an ice rink connected to the school area via a tunnel under Mjölkuddsvägen. There is also proximity to Coop Norrbotten Arena, which can be used during the winter months. Tunaskolan's central location makes it easy for students to reach events held in the city center or on the university campus, something that is also well managed by our skilled educators. Despite its central location, Tunaskolan is also close to nature and water, which in turn provides great opportunities for variation in teaching. The school has been renovated and has completely new premises throughout.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We design the position according to your skills. As a special teacher at Tunaskolan, you will work with students in grades 7-9 who need extra support. The position also includes collaboration with the rest of the staff group and with the adapted primary school. You will play an important role in the school's student health and systematic quality work together with a team of special educators/special teachers, a counselor, and a school nurse.

As a special teacher at Tunaskolan, your work will be based on students' needs. We expect you to use methods that have proven successful in current research and proven experience. You will provide Tunaskolan with expertise in the field of special education. The target group for your assignment is students but also work teams. Collaboration can take place in the form of supervision, further education, lectures, collegial learning, and pedagogical investigations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Primarily, we are looking for someone with a teaching license and a special teacher degree. It is important that you have good knowledge and experience of students' needs in complex learning situations. Documented competence and experience related to the work as a special teacher and several years of professional experience are meritorious. Furthermore, we see it as particularly meritorious if you have knowledge or experience from, for example, adapted primary schools, special learning environments, or similar. If you have a special education degree, you are also welcome to apply as it may be relevant for employment as a special educator.

The work as a special teacher places high demands on collaboration skills, flexibility, and responsiveness. It is therefore important that you have a good ability to communicate in the assignment, both verbally and in writing, in various contexts. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. We expect you to be well acquainted with the governing documents that regulate the school and that you act based on these in your interactions with students, guardians, and staff. Since we believe that Luleå Municipality's common value base is important as a guiding star in the work, we will place great importance on your engagement in your work with our students, that you act and behave responsibly in your role as a teacher within Luleå Municipality, and of course that you have the right competence when we fill this position.
