Job Advertisement: Sami Language Supporter

The Sami School Board is a government authority with its office located in Jåhkåmåhkke, including a school principal, controllers, HR, and caseworkers.

The Sami School is an educational form equivalent to primary school, providing education from preschool to grade 6. The foundation of the teaching is based on Sami culture and the Sami language according to the curriculum for the Sami school. The Sami School Board also operates preschools in agreement with the respective municipalities. The Sami School Board has activities in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna.

The Sami School Board organizes distance education in the Sami languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sami education.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will work as a Sami language supporter in the school as well as a resource. After school hours, your role will transition to being a language supporter/leisure leader/resource at the after-school center.

You have the ability to see all students and consider their individual circumstances. You contribute to their learning during school hours and leisure time. You can observe and base your work on the interactions within the group to develop students' ability to communicate as well as listen to, interpret, and understand others' viewpoints and ways of expressing themselves. You enjoy building relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Together with other colleagues in the work team, you will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and follow-up/evaluation of the activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with at least a three-year upper secondary education with a pedagogical focus or other education deemed suitable by the employer. It is advantageous if you have previously worked in after-school care and/or as a resource. You are proficient in several Sami languages, both orally and in writing. You have good knowledge of Sami culture and society.

You are patient, solution-oriented, and positive and creative. You are good at seeing opportunities. You have good collaboration skills and an interest in building relationships. You are meticulous, flexible, and attentive to the needs of the students and enjoy working with children and youth. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. We are looking for someone with a documented good ability to collaborate.

The Sami School Board applies individual salary setting.
