We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. In addition to our role as a regional hospital, we provide highly specialized care and serve two million people in Central Sweden. There is always something happening with us – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero of life. We believe that honesty lasts the longest, and it is no secret that we need to grow our team. As a colleague with us, you will experience a lot. Tough challenges but also fantastic events, strong community, and support from colleagues and fellow humans. Welcome with your application and become a part of us.

Since 2018, we at the neurosurgery department 85E have been working with nursing assistants. We have extensive experience with this working method and we would love for you to join our team! We are now looking for nursing students who are interested in becoming our colleague and nursing assistant for an exciting job during the summer of 2025. With us, you will have the opportunity to work with the most important thing a person has - the brain.

Our Operations

We have a large catchment area as we are one of six highly specialized neurosurgical clinics in Sweden, and we receive both planned and emergency patients around the clock. The patients we care for have brain hemorrhages, brain and spinal tumors, spinal injuries, vascular malformations, and hydrocephalus.

Your Mission

As a nursing assistant with us, you will become part of our wonderful team! You will work closely with our licensed nurses by performing specific medical care under their guidance and support. For example, you will work with medication management, dressing central lines, sample collection, IV placement, documentation in Cosmic, participating in rounds, and admissions and discharges. Your task is to work together with the nurses and have the opportunity to develop in your upcoming professional role under a well-structured setup. You will have no patient responsibility.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a nursing student with completed and approved results in semester 4 or 5. It is an advantage if you have previously worked with neurosurgical care and are familiar with our journal system, Cosmic.

Your Competence

You are curious about your upcoming profession and interested in preparing for it by working with specific medical care together with a licensed nurse during the summer of 2025. You are an engaged and positive colleague who contributes to a good working environment. You always put the patient in focus and are responsible in your work. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We Offer

We can offer you a part-time position during the summer of 2025. Start date according to agreement. The position involves rotation shifts, and working hours are scheduled for days and evenings as well as weekdays and weekends unless otherwise agreed.

There is also the possibility of continued part-time employment in the fall as a nursing assistant and study salary during semester 6 of the nursing program.

With us, it is important to have a tailored introduction based on previous experience and your upcoming role as a nursing assistant. We offer you a theoretical and practical introduction with an experienced nurse.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).

Region Uppsala values the qualities that gender balance and diversity bring to the organization. We therefore welcome applicants of all genders and with different backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences.

Region Uppsala places all permanent staff based on the needs of the total defense. This means that for the individual employee, there are no obligations in peacetime but is solely a planning measure.

Background checks against suspicion and criminal records will be conducted for all individuals that the employer intends to hire or engage for patient-related work, based on the possibility that they may work within psychiatric care, habilitation, care of children and adolescents, or compulsory care of substance abusers, areas that are subject to optional record extracts. This applies to anyone who will work closely with patients, even if the tasks are not primarily intended to include work with the aforementioned patient groups.

This recruitment is conducted entirely through Region Uppsala's own efforts. We therefore ask for no phone calls from recruitment companies and ad sellers.
