Do you want to work in a modern, highly specialized, and well-functioning eye care unit where both independence and teamwork are at the center? We are now looking for a licensed optometrist with a master's degree or an orthoptist for the Eye Care Unit in Region Örebro County.

The Eye Clinic at Örebro University Hospital is a modern and highly specialized facility that offers both acute and planned eye care for patients throughout the region. The Eye Department is one of the five largest eye care units in Sweden with about 140 employees. Here you will work in modern premises in Building H together with a well-established team. We have access to modern equipment and continuously work on development, digitalization, and improved care flows.

The Eye Department is one of the five largest eye care units in Sweden. Our university hospital consists of two units: a medical unit with a large outpatient care operation and a surgical unit. The outpatient care has a team-based operation in general ophthalmology, glaucoma, medical retina, pediatric and strabismus, neuro-ophthalmology, and uveitis. The surgical unit has a large vitreoretinal surgical section as well as an anterior segment surgical section with a cornea center. In total, we are over 130 employees in the department.

We strive to be at the forefront with high medical quality in several areas, including medical retina. Here we have advanced equipment including navigated retinal lasers and wide-field imaging. There is a long tradition of participating in international clinical drug trials and good opportunities for research. The university hospital has a close collaboration with Örebro University, where medical education is also provided. The Eye Department has an active teaching and training program. There is research activity and good opportunities for employees interested in R&D.

Örebro University Hospital (USÖ) is one of the three acute hospitals in the county where we provide advanced healthcare, research, and education. Both in 2020 and 2019, USÖ received the prestigious award for Best University Hospital from Dagens Medicin. USÖ won the most significant category for medical quality, had the best results in the categories of accessibility, economy, as well as in avoiding pressure ulcers and overcrowding. USÖ also tops the results in the areas of heart, kidney failure, and vascular surgery. USÖ has about 3500 employees. Licensed optometrist with a master's degree/Orthoptist for the Eye Clinic USÖJob Responsibilities

As an employee at the Eye Clinic, you will be part of a workplace with high competence, good team spirit, and a strong commitment to learning. There are good opportunities for further education, clinical development, and active participation in improvement work.

As an orthoptist or master's-trained optometrist, you will work with independent assessments and examinations of both children and adults. Common tasks include:

  • Vision examinations and checks
  • Children's examinations
  • Prescription of glasses
  • Visual field examinations
  • Pressure measurements
  • Various types of fundus photography

The tasks are adapted based on your education and experience.

Qualifications

Orthoptist or optometrist with a master's degree. Experience in similar tasks is an advantage, as is an interest in working with children.
