JOB DESCRIPTION

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service provides open healthcare, which means that all prisons and remand prisons have medical clinics where inmates can seek care. At the clinic at Karlskoga Prison, in addition to nurses, there are also consultants such as general practitioners, psychiatrists, and physiotherapists. As a nurse, you will work in a team and make all initial assessments of which applicants need to see a consultant. Healthcare within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service functions like a health center, which means that as a nurse, you will have a very varied job. This involves working with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare for inmates, participating in medical consultations, and administering medications primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal.

Collaboration with other prison staff is an obvious and important part of the job. This includes training and mentoring client-facing staff in healthcare issues such as suicide prevention, emergency care, and medication administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• Registered nurse
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

Meritorious:

• A relevant specialization or further education, for example in psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care
• Work experience in the profession
• Relevant language skills
• Driving license B
