Academic Children's Hospital

Little hearts need great care! We are a small hospital in the big world, and it is precisely in the small things that our greatness lies. Here, all the expertise a sick child may need is available, along with good collaboration, respect, and care. We offer a really good introduction for those who are new and many interesting opportunities for development. There is also unexpectedly much joy in what can sometimes be very difficult. We take care of the children and their families, and we take care of each other – because we know that we do a much better job together!

Our Operations

The Pediatric Department for Blood and Tumor Diseases 95 A is a care unit for children aged 0-18 years with associated day care and outpatient services. We provide highly specialized pediatric oncology care and receive patients for investigation, treatment, and evaluation from across the region. We also have an engaged research unit that supports pediatric oncology research and a close collaboration with the Skandion Clinic, which performs all proton therapy treatments in the Nordic countries.

Your Mission

As a nursing assistant or care assistant in pediatric oncology, you will work with the usual tasks of a nursing assistant and care assistant in a safe and independent manner. You will work in a team alongside doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff close to the sick child and their family. The Convention on the Rights of the Child and the child perspective are, and must always be, the foundation of our work; therefore, we place great emphasis on preparation and making children/youth and their relatives involved in the care we provide. We see that you, as an applicant for this position, share this view on preparatory care and feel joy and inspiration in working closely with patients in a highly specialized pediatric oncology setting.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A nursing assistant with proof of protected professional title for nursing assistants, or
  • A nursing student who has completed 4 semesters, or
  • A medical student who has completed at least 6 full semesters at a Swedish institution

If you are a nursing or medical student, you will receive the title of care assistant.

We would also like you to have previous experience working with sick children (meritorious).

You have good collaboration skills and see the entire workgroup as your team where you communicate respectfully and clearly. You plan and prioritize your work both independently and with the team you have patients with. Many of the tasks are done in the team, but it is important that you also work independently and take the initiative in your work. You see documentation as a natural part of daily work to ensure patient safety. You remain calm and controlled under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances. You have the interest, willingness, and ability to help others and strive to deliver solutions.

We Offer

We offer part-time employment as a nursing assistant or care assistant. The work is scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends.

With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference; read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
