About Us

The municipal youth centers and youth activities in Upplands Väsby are organized under the cultural and leisure office's youth unit. The youth unit currently consists of three youth centers for students in grades 6-9, a cultural house for young people aged 9 to 20, and other targeted youth initiatives.

The unit's fundamental mission is to create meaningful leisure time and safe, attractive meeting places for the municipality's young citizens, where preventive and promotional work permeates the activities. Everyone who meets visitors in the activities should be attentive to the needs and wishes of young people. All young people have the right to a fun and meaningful leisure time. The youth unit's approach and values are as follows:

About the Position

We are now looking for a recreation leader for the Väsbygården youth center located in central Upplands Väsby. In your role as a recreation leader, you will meet and build good relationships with young people in the activities and ensure that each participant feels welcome and included. As a recreation leader, you will create safe and inclusive meeting places with a varied range of activities that meet the needs and wishes of young people.

You will work with promotional and preventive methods to ensure that the activities become a safe and meaningful meeting place for the municipality's youth, where everyone can find a place to participate based on their circumstances. You will guide and support young people towards healthy life patterns. The tasks are varied, and together with the workgroup and our visitors, we want to create a creative climate where young people's right to participation is taken seriously. You will have close cooperation with other actors, such as schools and other youth centers, to promote good growth and living conditions for young people. You will participate in all tasks at the workplace, including planning, implementation, and follow-up. Some ongoing administration will occur.

Working hours are primarily scheduled for afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Are You the One We Are Looking For?

We are looking for someone with a recreation leader education or equivalent post-secondary education that the employer considers equivalent.

It is an advantage if you have:

• Experience working with promotional and preventive methods in activities
• Experience working with young people
• Worked area-based, health-promoting, or creative for and with young people
• Driver's license (B)

As a person, you find it easy to build relationships with others through your social skills. You have good collaboration skills and see cooperation as an important success factor in the work as a recreation leader, and you share our values. Furthermore, you are confident in meeting young people and demonstrate personal maturity in your actions. We also see that you creatively solve emerging problems and see opportunities rather than obstacles.
