Temporary Social Welfare Officer in Stockholm

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Do you want to make a difference in the daily lives of Stockholmers and work in an exciting and growing district? With us, you will develop and grow with the task. We work to find new innovative ways of working for a healthy and meaningful aging. To support this, we have an innovation center with advanced welfare technology in care and support. Together, we work to be a district in a safe city to grow up, live, and age in.

We are now looking for 2-4 temporary social welfare officers

We would like you to start working part-time already in the spring. This gives us the opportunity to provide you with a thorough introduction well before you start working full-time.

Welcome to us

The Elderly Unit consists of 35 employees distributed among social welfare officers, elderly coordinators, method developers, and managers. Here, men and women work with a wide range of ages and experiences. With us, you will have wonderful colleagues who enjoy their work. We help each other and care about a good working environment. We have a purposeful organizational structure where the majority of social welfare officers have a clear case responsibility based on geographical division. We have a group of three social welfare officers, without their own case responsibility, who provide support during absences and work peaks. Within the department, there is a newly established unit for economics and administration, which provides support in the financial processes related to case management.

Our office premises are located in the Slakthus area, near Globen.

Your role as a temporary social welfare officer

As a social welfare officer in elderly care, your main tasks are to investigate and assess applications received from individuals over 65 regarding services such as home care, day activities, and special housing forms. The work includes updating cases, gathering information, making assessments, making decisions, and following up on services according to the Social Services Act. Your work as a social welfare officer is significant and multifaceted as you will work in dialogue with the elderly to find a solution for the individual. In your work, you will collaborate with both colleagues in the city and external partners.

Your qualifications and experience

You have completed or are in the process of completing a degree in social work or another higher education that is deemed equivalent by the employer, and we prefer that you are in the final stages of your education.

It is an advantage if you have completed your practical training (VFU) within public authority work with the elderly target group and if you have experience from Stockholm City’s umbrella system. Previous experience in social work and working with the elderly target group is a plus.

As social welfare officers often meet people in crisis and with complex life situations, it is important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and meet people in a respectful manner.

You work independently and in a structured way by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work well. You are flexible and can easily adapt when the work requires it. You are relationship-building and have a good ability to establish contact with people in vulnerable situations. You are calm, stable, and have the ability to maintain a realistic perspective in situations that arise in the daily work of a public authority. You have a problem-solving analytical ability, can handle complex issues, quickly analyze situations, and make decisions. You have a very good ability to collaborate, are attentive, and enjoy working with other professionals, always with the individual in focus. You value and show respect for people's differences.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
