About the Position

As a special educator with us, you will play a key role in the students' development and learning. You will work to identify and meet individual needs at the organizational, group, and individual levels. You coach and lead other professional groups around the student. By conducting educational investigations, designing action plans, and following up on implemented measures, you ensure that each student receives the support and help they need to succeed.

We can offer you a job in close collaboration between the student health team and work teams. The school has seven work teams and one student health team. The position is partially directed towards the resource school. At Gumaeliusskolan, we have gradually increased the number of adults around the students by having more teachers in each lesson, and in each work team, there is a student coordinator and at least one teaching assistant.

Examples of Responsibilities:

• work proactively and preventively, as well as follow up and evaluate implemented measures together with those involved
• conduct educational investigations regarding the need for special support
• work together with school management, the student health team, and other school staff to create an accessible and good learning environment for the students
• be responsible for being a qualified conversation partner, guide teachers and school staff, and initiate the right interventions in collaboration with other professionals based on students' needs
• independently lead and support the development of educational work to meet the needs of all students

About the Workplace

Gumaeliusskolan is a secondary school located centrally in western Örebro. Currently, we have about 700 students from all parts of Örebro. We actively work to increase the number of adults around the students by having more teachers in each lesson, and in each work team, there is a student coordinator and at least one teaching assistant.

Within the Preschool and Primary School Administration, approximately 4,530 employees work. We meet the young people of Örebro from their first day in preschool to their last day in primary school. Qualifications

As a special educator, it is important that you are secure, stable, and see relationships in their proper perspective. You have good collaborative skills and relate to others in a responsive and flexible manner. You see the whole picture and take into account the larger perspective. You can also lead and motivate others to achieve common goals as well as create engagement and participation. You have a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge and the different conditions of individuals, and you adapt your way of conveying your message to the recipient.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Requirements:

• teaching certification with the authority to teach in primary school, or an equivalent qualification that grants certification
• special educator degree (90 credits)

Desirable:

• good knowledge of NPF
• previous experience as a special educator
• experience working with students in need of special support
• experience in mentoring teachers

Additional Information

A special educator degree and teaching certification must be attached to the application.
