Principal and Preschool Teacher at Nejlikans Preschool
Nejlikans FörskolaÖrebro län, Örebro
Previous experience is desired
Welcome to Nejlikans Preschool – an independent preschool for those who want to combine pedagogical leadership with work closely with children in a smaller organization with short decision-making paths and close contact with the principal.
Nejlikans Preschool was founded in 1991 by Mellringekyrkan in Örebro and has a Christian profile. Today we have 26 children aged 1–5 years and work in smaller groups with high staff density. The staff works research-based and according to ICDP with a clear focus on relationships, and the operations are characterized by a project-oriented approach.
The staff team consists, in addition to the principal, of one preschool teacher and four childcare workers, and we are now looking for someone who wants to take overall responsibility for both leadership and pedagogical work in the group.
The position is a permanent employment of 75–100 %, where about one third of the position consists of principal duties and the remaining time of work as a preschool teacher in a children's group.
Job Responsibilities
As Principal
As principal, you lead and develop the preschool's pedagogical activities in accordance with applicable laws, goals, and governing documents. You are responsible for systematic quality work and create conditions for a safe, developing, and educational environment for both children and staff.
Your responsibilities include:
- leading and following up on pedagogical development work
- responsibility for staff management, work environment, and professional development
- ensuring that learning environments support children's development and learning
- planning and leading staff meetings, parent meetings, and board meetings
- collaborating closely with the principal
You have a significant influence over the design of the operations and good opportunities to affect both working methods and development direction.
As Preschool Teacher
As a preschool teacher, you actively work in the children's group and are part of the daily pedagogical work. You plan, implement, document, and follow up on teaching based on the curriculum, children's interests, and needs. You contribute to a reflective working method and are a safe and present adult in the children's everyday life.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- is a confident, clear, and present pedagogical leader
- has the ability to engage, motivate, and create joy at work
- is structured and knowledgeable about systematic quality work
- is responsible, self-driven, and stable
- has good collaboration and communication skills
- builds trusting relationships with children, colleagues, and guardians
You thrive in a smaller organization where you can take responsibility, be involved in everyday life, and make a real difference.
Education and Experience
We want you to:
- be a licensed preschool teacher or have another relevant pedagogical university education
- have experience working in preschool
- have an interest in – or experience of – leadership roles
Completed principal training is an advantage but not a requirement.
