The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service will conduct education in the upcoming child and youth departments; primary school, upper secondary school, adapted primary school, and adapted upper secondary school. The environment is designed to meet the specific needs of this target group within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. The operation is part of the nationally coordinated educational activities of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, which also includes education equivalent to adult education (Komvux). It aims to provide each student with an equal and quality education.

The education for children and young people is mainly conducted through close teaching, in a safe and structured environment. The education is integrated with other efforts within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service to support the development and future opportunities of children and young people.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Children and young people in prison should be offered education equivalent to primary school, upper secondary school, adapted primary school, and adapted upper secondary school. As a pedagogical supervisor at the Learning Center, you will play an important role in this mission. You contribute to creating a safe, structured, and meaningful school experience for students in a vulnerable situation, and you work together with the teachers at the prison and in a nationally coordinated educational activity focusing on equality and continuity.

You will be placed at Kumla Prison. All work takes place at the prison.

QUALIFICATIONS

In your role as a pedagogical supervisor, you are a skilled educator with the will and ability to motivate, inspire, and lead students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematics. The work is carried out both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good collaboration and initiative skills are important traits, as well as the ability to work independently.

For us, it is important that you share the fundamental values of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your attitude to ensure that everyone is treated equally. We place great importance on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience working in educational activities in secondary and/or upper secondary school.
  • Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish
  • Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Pedagogical education with a focus on school
