For-Tjusts! Parish Priest for Västervik

The Southern Tjust Parish consists of six congregations with the main town of Västervik.

The parish has about 32,000 inhabitants, including both urban and rural areas, as well as the beautiful Tjust archipelago. During the summer, many tourists visit our region, and the most famous event is the music festival in Västervik, which is also the hometown of Björn Ulvaeus. The city is dominated by its two main churches, St. Peter's and the older summer-open St. Gertrude's Church. The parish has a total of 12 churches and a rich worship life with music and volunteers in the congregational activities. The Christmas calendar for SVT was partly filmed in Västervik.

We are looking for a Parish Priest, based in Västervik, who wants to work with:

- Building the congregation together with volunteers, elected representatives, and colleagues

- People of all ages with a focus on children & families

- The music life, which currently has a large choir community and many concerts and music services

- “Life Vital”, a lecture series for adults at St. Peter's Church, a deepening work with inspiration and conversations based on a guest

- Services with several different colleagues throughout the parish, with the lead deacon distributing the work

- Ceremonies, devotions, grief groups, and congregational activities in life's various stages

- Developing the information campaign for the funeral service to increase Christian burials

We are looking for someone who:

- Wants to be a shepherd and be part of the active parish council in Västervik

- Is a person who enjoys collaborating and wants to have fun at work

- Is structured, responsible, and self-driven with initiative

- Wants to use their gifts and has a great opportunity to shape their service accordingly

- Is ordained according to the Church of Sweden's order and has the right to officiate weddings

- Has a B driver's license and access to a car

Employment Type:

The position is a permanent employment at 100% with a start date according to agreement.
