Your role

We are looking for personal assistants for a man with ALS. The advertisement is for on-call staff with a chance for summer jobs. The assignment is to provide the best possible assistance so that the user can have a good quality of life and participation in society. The work as a personal assistant involves providing support in all situations of life. This can include providing support in the user's home and also out in the community.

Common tasks include:

  • Helping the user communicate via Tobii (eye-controlled computer) and/or manual letter board, AAC.
  • Feeding via PEG/sonde.
  • Transfer using a power wheelchair and lift.
  • Assistance with respiratory care (done via delegation).
  • Tracheostomy care, suctioning, ventilator.
  • Assistance with personal hygiene, showering, and toilet.
  • Dressing and undressing.
  • Position changes in bed.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Calm and secure.
  • Attentive and empathetic.
  • Patient and punctual.
  • Good at collaboration (double assistance).

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Turned 18 years old.
  • Experience working within LSS or personal assistance.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Caregiver training or other education in health and care.
  • Experience with tracheostomy care.
  • Experience with cough machines.
  • Experience with home ventilators.
  • Experience with lifts.
  • Experience with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
  • Knowledge of ALS, other neurological diseases, as well as various disabilities and diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of dementia.
