Family Law Secretary to Hässelby-Vällingby District Administration

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Hässelby-Vällingby District Administration is located in western Stockholm, close to scenic areas and good transport links. We are about 1,700 proud and dedicated employees who contribute high-quality service to the residents of the district every day. Our work environment is characterized by collaboration, courage, and participation. Our strength lies in the diversity among residents, which is also reflected in our employees. Together we make a difference!

Welcome to us

The Department of Individuals and Families is responsible for support and services to residents in the district and will have four operational areas from January 1, 2025: Promotion, First Line, Children and Youth, and Adults.

The Family Law Unit Northwest is responsible for family law matters for the Hässelby-Vällingby and Bromma district administrations. The family law team consists of 14 social workers and a unit manager.

As a colleague in the family law group, you will be part of a generous and helpful workgroup with high competence. We focus on preventive work with initiatives such as voluntary mediation sessions, Hela barn and Hanna and Theo, as well as group activities Skilda Världar and BIFF. For our visitation support cases, we have a child-friendly facility and experienced visitation supporters as providers.

We offer

We offer you a creative and positive environment where you can develop and contribute to the goals of the operation. The position includes flexible working hours, wellness benefits, and a gym available in the administration building.

Here you can watch a film about what it is like to work with us.

Your role

As a family law secretary, you will work broadly within the entire family law area. The role includes, among other things:

  • Conducting mediation sessions with separated parents
  • Carrying out investigations regarding custody, residence, and visitation for the court
  • Handling paternity and parental investigations
  • Working with adoption cases
  • Leading children’s groups, parent groups, and support conversations for children

Your competence and experience

For this position, you are required to have:

  • A degree in social work
  • Experience working with authority work within social services or preventive activities.
  • A very good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing

We consider it an advantage if you have:

  • Experience working with children and youth cases within social services
  • Experience in family law work
  • Knowledge of children's needs and development
  • Experience conducting investigative conversations with children and parents

Since the work often involves meeting people in crisis and/or with complex life situations, it is important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and meet people in a professional and respectful manner. You can work both independently and in a team and are relationship-building and structured.

The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thus counteracting discrimination.
